The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 617’s Members and Officers Endorse Councilman Mike Brownrigg

State Senate Candidate and Burlingame Councilman Mike Brownrigg Selected for Endorsement after a Rigorous Evaluation Process

Burlingame, California – Burlingame, California – Mike Brownrigg, candidate for State Senate, announced that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 617 endorsed him. This builds on the more than 700 community members who have endorsed him along with over 35 mayors and former mayors, and over 50 other elected officials across San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.


“I am proud and humbled by IBEW Local 617’s confidence in me as a candidate for State Senate as well as by the support of the leadership and, most importantly, the members,” said Brownrigg.  “I look forward to building a stronger, greener, more efficient California with IBEW and its members over the decade ahead. We have a lot of work to do to fully electrify our energy and transport systems, to strengthen our grid, and to make sure we pull carbon out of our energy stream, and IBEW members are going to be absolutely central to all those efforts.”

Brownrigg plans to bring his extensive experience and record of getting things done to the State Senate. His campaign for State Senate has over 650 community supporters and a growing list of endorsements from prominent local elected officials from around the District. Brownrigg is one of the top fundraisers in the race of five candidates. His campaign ended the financial reporting period with a total of $460,000 in contributions. Brownrigg is also a 10-year Burlingame City Council Member, two-term Mayor and served eight years on the Planning Commission. Under his leadership, Burlingame expanded child and senior care, added more affordable housing and opened new parks and schools. Prior to elected office, Brownrigg worked as a U.S. diplomat, serving in Syria and Hong Kong. Professionally, Brownrigg is a partner in a social impact investment firm that helps improve underserved communities around the world. He and his wife, Marty, a pediatrician, live in Burlingame where they are raising their four children.
