Dear <<First Name>>,

When the pandemic struck nearly two years ago, my team and I responded immediately to protect our most vulnerable communities.

We spearheaded local efforts to create the nation’s strongest COVID-19 eviction protections; created a district-specific subsidy for struggling renters totaling $1 million; secured hundreds of millions of federal and state dollars to help renters and mom-and-pop landlords; distributed more than 20,000 pounds of groceries to food insecure households; and vaccinated nearly 3,000 13th District residents and workers.

Throughout all of this, we have also provided FREE COVID-19 testing in Echo Park in partnership with CORE Response.

Now, with the unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases related to the Omicron variant and in order to provide a more convenient user experience, our Echo Park COVID-19 testing site will be moving to Echo Park Lake starting today, January 15.

Testing will occur between the children’s playground and the lake with hours of operation Tuesday through Saturday, from 8am to 4pm

While appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled at coronavirus.lacity.org/testing, walk-ups may also be accepted.

Although some data suggests we have reached the peak of the Omicron surge in certain parts of the country, the best way to protect ourselves against future variants and surges is to get vaccinated.

If you have further questions or concerns, please contact my team at (213) 207-3015.

We are here to help.

Be safe and well,

MITCH O'FARRELL

TEAM MITCH MAKING A DIFFERENCE

EAST HOLLYWOOD - Our Council District 13 Clean Team is at your service and ready to help you with your neighborhood's beautification requests. This week, the team hit the streets of East Hollywood, targeting hotspots for illegal dumping, like this corner at Santa Monica Boulevard and Oxford Avenue. This is one of nearly one-thousand projects - small and large - that the Clean Team completes annually. If you know of an area in need of service, please contact us at (213) 207-3015.

WELCOME TO THE 13TH DISTRICT!

LARCHMONT VILLAGE - Over the next few months, Team Mitch looks forward to meeting and highlighting many of the businesses that now call the 13th District home as a result of redistricting. This week, we paid a visit to Todd Warner's Tailwaggers - 147 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004 - a neighborhood favorite where you can find everything from high quality food to grooming and daycare for your furry friend. We're excited to have Tailwaggers in the 13th District and thank them for all they do to support our furry friends!

CELEBRATING KOREAN AMERICAN DAY

CITY HALL - On Korean American Day, Councilmember O'Farrell joined his council colleagues to celebrate the foundational role that Korean Americans have played in Los Angeles and our country. This is especially true in the 13th District, which is home to many great Korean American businesses and organizations that we've had the privilege of partnering with over the years. As we welcome more Korean Americans to the 13th due to redistricting, Team Mitch looks forward to deepening these bonds and working together to elevate the Korean American experience.

REMEMBERING LESLIE MONROY

CITY HALL - It's with a heavy heart that we adjourned Wednesday's council meeting in memory of Leslie Monroy, a fearless advocate for the transgender and Latin communities in Los Angeles who left us too soon in December. Leslie’s impact was felt by many: at Bienestar, where she helped immigrant Latina women access mental health resources; at St. John's Well Child & Family Center where she assisted transgender individuals with trans-affirming medical procedures; and here at City Hall, where she was a joyful presence at our annual Transgender Day of Visibility celebrations. Thank you Leslie for your work to create a world of belonging. Your legacy lives on in each of us.

POSTPONED: LOS ANGELES HOMELESS COUNT

LOS ANGELES - Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases related to the Omicron variant, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) is postponing the 2022 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count to February 22 - 24, 2022. If you would like to volunteer, please register here.
