Dear <<First Name>>,

My team and I continue to bring comprehensive and unprecedented numbers of affordable housing solutions to the 13th District.

This week, we broke ground on another one - 187 units of housing in East Hollywood for working families making as little as $20,000, in addition to permanent supportive housing units for people experiencing homelessness with wrap-around services.

This HHH funded transit-oriented development will be located directly above the Santa Monica / Vermont B Line subway Station. We are providing much-needed housing while reducing our dependence on automobiles and incentivizing transit ridership.

While some have been critical of the HHH program, the truth is that thousands of units are open or currently under construction - many of them in the 13th District, and the program will eventually produce, if not exceed, its 10,000 unit goal across the City of Los Angeles.

I will continue to be a leader in our efforts to keep Los Angeles affordable for working families, while pursuing innovative partnerships like this one to help unhoused individuals move along a pathway to wellness, stability and a purposeful life. This is why the 13th District has produced more affordable housing than any area outside of Downtown Los Angeles.

And - in the coming weeks and months, we’ll be breaking ground or nearing completion on other housing solutions, totaling thousands of units.

More to come on these and other efforts. Please contact my team if you would like to learn more.

With kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL

TODAY: HIFI EASTERN GATEWAY UNVEILING!

HISTORIC FILIPINOTOWN - We can't wait to see you today at 4pm at Beverly Boulevard and Belmont Avenue for our community ribbon cutting of the Historic Filipinotown Eastern Gateway - Los Angeles' newest cultural monument that celebrates the countless contributions of Filipino-Americans here in Los Angeles and beyond. There will be dancing, food, live performances as well as remarks from dignitaries and celebrities. As you get ready to attend with friends, family and loved ones, here is some helpful information about parking and other logistics. Mabuhay!
HOSTING THE CITY AND STATE OF PUEBLA
CITY HALL - Councilmember O'Farrell was honored this week to host a delegation from the Mexican city and state of Puebla - where, in 1862, an outmatched Mexican army defeated the French Empire in the Battle of Puebla: an event now commemorated as Cinco de Mayo. There is so much that binds our two cities together. For instance, Los Angeles is home to many immigrants from Puebla, whom Councilmember O'Farrell has worked with on an array of issues. This includes advocating on behalf of street vendors and bringing them out of the shadow economy. We look forward to deepening these ties as we further relations between our two governments.
REMEMBERING SAIGU
KOREATOWN - April 29 marked the 30-year commemoration since the Los Angeles Civil Unrest, that sparked rioting and devastation across our city. On that day, Councilmember O'Farrell was humbled to join City and community leaders for the SAIGU peace gathering at Liberty Park in Koreatown. As we remember the turmoil and loss wrought by those events, we reaffirm our commitment to addressing inequity, embracing our diversity and uplifting every Angeleno.
SHINING A LIGHT ON INDIGENOUS WOMEN
CITY HALL - On Thursday, Councilmember O'Farrell helped light Los Angeles’ skies to bring attention to and remember the Indigenous women we have lost to murder or who have gone missing. Team Mitch stands with Indigenous women everywhere and calls on everyone to do their part in order to end this national epidemic. SUPPORTING OUR 13TH DISTRICT BUSINESSES
HOLLYWOOD - Team Mitch is still welcoming businesses to the 13th District family as a result of redistricting. This includes the Electric Owl in the Sunset Square and Spaulding Square communities of Hollywood. Known for its tasty cocktails and delicious cheeseburgers, Electric Owl just celebrated its fifth year in business. But there's more here than the great food and drinks - the restaurant is also full of history and a warm, welcoming neighborhood culture! Located on the site of a former train station, Electric Owl pays tribute to its Red Car past with a decor that’s straight out of Old Hollywood. Please continue to support small businesses like Electric Owl. They add so much to our local economy.
NEVER GIVE UP - FINISH THE RIDE 2022
GRIFFITH PARK - We were happy to spend our Sunday morning at Finish the Ride - an annual 12 mile bike ride that increases awareness about pedestrian and cycling safety. We're thankful to Streets are for Everyone and Damian Kevitt for organizing Sunday's ride and their ongoing, collaborative work to make our streets safer for every Angeleno.
