Dear <<First Name>>,

Thank you to everyone who has participated thus far in Los Angeles’ redistricting process.

Here’s a recap about where we’ve been and next steps:

✅On Thursday, October 29, the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission held its final meeting and voted to approve a report including a draft map of updated Council District boundaries
✅ During yesterday’s City Council meeting, the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission presented its draft map and shared a summary of its deliberations

So what’s next?

Now that the draft map has been transmitted to the Los Angeles City Council, Council President Nury Martinez has created an Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee, of which I’m honored to be Vice Chair. This committee will meet to consider the draft map and continue to collect public input.

These hearings are another opportunity to weigh in and advocate for issues important to you, your community and your neighborhood.

I look forward to sharing more updates about the ad hoc committee, including upcoming meetings, as details become available.

My team and I are always here to help and explain this process. Please contact us if you have any questions: (213) 207-3015.

We are here to help.

Kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL

TEAM MITCH MAKING A DIFFERENCE

KOREATOWN - The Council District 13 Clean Team was hard at work in Koreatown at Alexandria and Oakwood Avenues, removing illegal dumping, trash and other debris. If you know of an area in need of service, please contact our District Office at (213) 207-3015.

A SATURDAY MORNING OF SERVICE

SILVER LAKE - Team Mitch is thankful to everyone who came out on Saturday for a morning of service at our 75th (!) Councilmember in Your Corner. Together, we beautified the Sunset Junction Median with new mulch; picked up litter along Sunset Blvd; planted a new tree; and brought critical City services to residents’ doorsteps. These volunteer events are rooted in Councilmember O'Farrell's years as a neighborhood activist and have been a staple of our office from the very beginning. We're always at your service and look forward to many more!

CELEBRATING DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS!

SILVER LAKE - It was great to be back in-person Monday evening for the second annual Día de Los Muertos festival at the Sunset Triangle Plaza. In addition to altar building and art stations, we enjoyed a beautiful performance from Ballet Folklorico, an Aztec dance troupe. Thank you to the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council for organizing and hosting yesterday’s evening of remembrance and celebration. It was wonderful catching up with longtime friends and neighbors.

A FUN TIME FOR ALL

ECHO PARK - In partnership with local elementary schools, non-profits and families, we hosted our final installment of the Echo Park Film Series on Friday evening, in addition to providing COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. We're thankful to all of the local families, residents and community partners who made this year's film series possible, bringing joy and happiness once again to the Lake after a year of unprecedented challenges. We can't wait to see you on the north lawn next year!

STANDING WITH THE PEOPLE OF ARTSAKH

CITY HALL - Councilmember O'Farrell was honored to help welcome Artak Beglaryan, Minister of State, Republic of Artsakh, to Los Angeles City Hall on Friday. With his Council colleagues, the Councilmember discussed how Los Angeles can assist and give aid to the Republic of Artsakh, which has been the target of Turkish and Azerbaijani aggression, as well as occupation. As the representative of Little Armenia, Councilmember O'Farrell is proud to stand in solidarity with Armenians everywhere, including the people of Artsakh, and pledges to help in every way we can.

SPREAD THE WARMTH: BLANKET AND SOCK DRIVE

LOS ANGELES - From November 1 through the end of the year, Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment is hosting a sock and blanket drive for Los Angeles' unhoused community. New and gently used blankets, sleeping bags and socks can be dropped off at seven sites throughout the City, including the North Central District Yard at 452 San Fernando Road, Los Angeles, CA 90031.
