Dear <<First Name>>,

It’ll be an exciting weekend in the 13th District, and I hope you’ll join thousands of your fellow Angelenos in a fun, family-friendly celebration of public space.

This Sunday, August 21, for the first time since 2019, we welcome CicLAvia back to Hollywood and East Hollywood!

From 9am to 4pm this Sunday, this beloved event will shut down 6.6 miles of City streets to car traffic, returning them to pedestrians, cyclists, joggers, spectators and more.

As an avid cyclist and longtime champion of pedestrian safety, I always look forward to CicLAvia, which has done so much to reshape how we relate to our public spaces.

This edition’s route will encompass the following 13th District corridors:

Hollywood Boulevard between Virgil Avenue and Highland Avenue
Highland Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard
Santa Monica Boulevard between Highland Avenue and La Brea Avenue

Keep an eye out for Team Mitch, too! We will be at various locations on the route, engaging with local residents and sharing more about some of the exciting projects on the way in Hollywood and East Hollywood, in addition to our ongoing work to build a more sustainable and equitable Los Angeles.

We can’t wait to see you there!

With kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL

Frank Lloyd Wright's beloved Hollyhock House reopens after two years [Dwell]
NEW FITNESS EQUIPMENT ON THE WAY
ECHO PARK LAKE - Our parks play a critical role in keeping all Angelenos fit and healthy. On Tuesday, Mitch joined local seniors, the Department of Recreation and Parks, St. Barnabas Senior Services, as well as members of the Echo Park Advisory Board to break ground on new senior-focused fitness equipment at Echo Park Lake. The result of extensive dialogue between seniors and the Department of Recreation and Parks, this latest amenity will keep our seniors front and center, in a safe, active environment. Stay tuned for the ribbon cutting!
HOLLYHOCK REOPENS FOR IN-PERSON TOURS
EAST HOLLYWOOD - After a two year closure due to the pandemic, Mitch joined the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) and community members to welcome Angelenos back to in-person tours at Hollyhock House - Los Angeles’ first and only UNSECO World Heritage Site. A BIG THANK YOU to DCA, our City Departments, nonprofits and the many individuals who are working with us each day to ensure this architectural masterpiece can be enjoyed by future generations. This priceless treasure is meant to be shared. Visit hollyhockhouse.org to book your tour today.
ANGELENOS AGREE - REOPEN ST. VINCENT NOW
WESTLAKE - Angelenos want St. Vincent to reopen immediately as an acute care facility for people experiencing homeless. Mitch's petition's demanding that Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong - the hospital's owner and LA's richest resident - reopen the facility has now surpassed 1,000 signatures. There’s no more time to waste. Dr. Soon-Shiong could help us rebuild the lives of hundreds of Angelenos at a time - if only he would come to the table. Sign our petition at bit.ly/openstvincent.

AT YOUR SERVICE: WEEKLY SNAPSHOT
RAMPART VILLAGE - On Sunday, Team Mitch partnered with the City's Urban Forestry Division to trim overgrown trees on La Fayette Park Pl between Third Street and Beverly Boulevard, maintaining the integrity of our tree canopy. The Los Angeles Conservation Corps was also on hand to pick-up illegal dumping, enhancing the quality of life for local residents. This is what our work is all about. If we can be of service to you, please contact us at (213) 207-3015.
CELEBRATING JEWISH CULTURE AND HERITAGE
SILVER LAKE - Team Mitch had an incredible time at the Silver Lake Jewish Festival, spotlighting Jewish culture and heritage. Special thanks to Rabbi Mendy Cietlin and Jewish Silver Lake for organizing last weekend's festivities and bringing the community together in celebration.
