Dear <<First Name>>,

I’m excited to announce that my office will be concluding the City’s annual LGBT Heritage Month festivities by honoring East West Players, as well as its Producing Artistic Director, Snehal Desai, next Wednesday, June 30, at 3:30pm on Facebook and Channel 35

As the nation’s first professional Asian-American theatre, East West Players and Snehal embody what it means to be frontline advocates. Through their artistic productions and educational programs, they have brought visibility and fostered dialogues exploring Asian Pacific experiences.

Please join us as we recognize East West Players as our 2021 LGBT Heritage Month honoree.

Again, the event will be held live on Facebook, next Wednesday, June 30, at 3:30pm. Please visit this link to watch the webcast, or tune in live on Ch 35

With kind regards,
MITCH O'FARRELL

TEAM MITCH MAKING A DIFFERENCE

EAST HOLLYWOOD - The Council District 13 Clean Team recently tackled an alleyway between Santa Monica Boulevard and Romaine Street, removing litter and debris. If you know of an area in need of attention, please contact our District Office at (213) 207-3015.

REDUCING THE URBAN HEAT ISLAND EFFECT

GLASSELL PARK - On Thursday, Councilmember O'Farrell joined Councilmember De León and Glassell Park residents to celebrate the transformation of the Verdugo Median from a strip of barren asphalt into an environmental asset with native vegetation, nine new trees, irrigation and river rock. These kinds of projects help reduce the urban heat island effect and are critical tools in our City’s efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

MAINTAINING STREET INTEGRITY IN CD13

ECHO PARK - Our office recently partnered with StreetsLA to resurface Lemoyne Street between Sunset Boulevard and Park Drive - one of many resurfacing projects completed over the past year in the 13th District. To learn about projects happening in your neighborhood, please contact our District Office at (213) 207-3015.

LOS ANGELES' NEWEST LANDMARK

SILVER LAKE - On Thursday, Councilmember O'Farrell joined City and community leaders to unveil a new plaque in tribute to the late Tom LaBonge at the iconic Silver Lake Reservoir Complex.  As someone who was synonymous with many Los Angeles landmarks, it’s fitting that he be honored with a permanent marker. Tom's light continues to shine on all of us.

ASSISTANCE FOR 13TH DISTRICT THEATERS

13TH DISTRICT - Struggling live theater venues in the 13th District still have until Friday, July 2, at midnight to apply for a $5,000 grant available through Councilmember O'Farrell's $135,000 assistance program. Up to 25 qualifying applicants will receive the grant, which can go toward operating costs, such as rent, salaries and artist fees.
