Dear <<First Name>>,

One year ago, I led the City Council’s creation of a citywide Electric Vehicle Master Plan - a first-of-its-kind program to electrify the entire fleet of City vehicles, while building out a network of charging infrastructure to bring this technology to every corner of Los Angeles.

I am fighting for every vehicle owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles to be free of fossil fuels, and today we took another big step toward achieving that goal.

Today, the City Council’s environment committee, which I have the honor of chairing, received its first biannual report from the various departments who are tasked with implementing our ambitious plan. In short, we are making progress and moving closer to a future of cleaner air, easily accessible electric vehicle chargers and reduced carbon emissions.

Here are some highlights from today’s report and what the EV Master Plan means for you:

✅By 2025, we have a target of 45,000 charging stations equitably distributed across the City
✅We’re expanding the City’s Blue LA electric car sharing program with 300 new charging stations at 60 locations by 2025. With a $5/month membership cost, BlueLA is an opportunity for Angelenos to ditch their gas-powered cars in a convenient and affordable way.
✅More than 100 electric vehicle chargers are on track to be installed at 14 City facilities across the City, bringing our Citywide total to nearly 400 chargers.
✅ City departments are reviewing vehicle purchases in this year’s budget to identify and replace fossil fuel powered vehicles with electric ones.

This work is challenging and not easy but we’re committed to cleaning our air and creating a #GreenerLA, one big rig at a time.

I look forward to sharing more soon.

With kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL
