Dear <<First Name>>,

As the City's environmental committee chair, I am overseeing our "LA100" plan to achieve 100% carbon-free energy by 2035. This is the most ambitious plan of any city in the nation. It includes a just transition, will create 9500+ good green jobs, and has many moving parts.

At my direction, LADWP is providing a "progress report" every six months so that both leaders AND everyday Angelenos can ensure we are on track to reach our renewable energy goals. Soon, LADWP will visualize our renewable and carbon-free efforts by providing an interactive, 365 day-a-year map for all us to follow, learn from, and scrutinize.

Today in committee, we heard the first of these progress reports from LADWP. And here's the great news: Los Angeles is ON TRACK to achieving 100% renewable energy within our ambitious timeline.

Being on track doesn't mean this work is easy. In fact, it's quite the opposite. But I want every Angeleno to rest assured knowing that we are aggressively, ambitiously - and successfully - moving full speed ahead in fighting the climate crisis and achieving 100% carbon-free energy in L.A.

Here's a snapshot of what we heard today:

I will keep you updated on our work  to building a #GreenerLA.

With kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL
