Dear <<First Name>>,

Thank you to everyone who has made their voice heard and participated in Los Angeles’ redistricting process so far.

While there is still a ways to go, it’s important that the Commission continue to hear from residents across the City and that you stay engaged. Here’s what you need to know about where we are in the process.

Last Thursday, the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission adopted a draft map of updated City Council district lines. Starting tomorrow, October 6, at 6pm, the Commission will kick off one of four virtual presentations to share this map with the public in order to collect further feedback before submitting a final map to the Los Angeles City Council later this month.

There are still multiple ways to participate:

✅Provide verbal public comment via Zoom at bit.ly/LACCRCZoom or by dialing (669) 254-5252 and entering Meeting ID No. 161 545 4787 to one of the above presentations. We recommend you join the meeting 30 minutes early, and as soon as you are in the meeting, virtually raise your hand.
✅Provide written public comment to the Commission by completing their survey at bit.ly/mapcomment.

Following tomorrow evening’s hearing, the Commission will reconvene on the following dates to collect more feedback. Each meeting represents another opportunity to give public comment, and I encourage you to do so. The four meetings this month are:

✅ Wednesday, October 6 at 6pm (tomorrow)
✅ Saturday, October 9 at 10am
✅ Wednesday, October 13 at 6pm
✅ Saturday, October 16 at 10am

If you are interested in providing public comment, but are having difficulties getting connected or being heard, please contact my office at councilmember.ofarrell@lacity.org

We want to help make sure your voice is heard and are committed to ensuring that no voters are disenfranchised.

With kind regards,

MITCH O'FARRELL

TEAM MITCH MAKING A DIFFERENCE

ATWATER VILLAGE - When Lawrence Madrid, a longtime Atwater Village resident, reached out to our team about repairing the sidewalks surrounding his home, we didn't hesitate to take action. Working closely with StreetsLA, we identified and secured funding for this improvement and, this past weekend, we fulfilled Mr. Madrid’s request by replacing nearly 1,000 square feet of sidewalk. Since July, close to 10,000 square feet of broken sidewalk has been replaced in the 13th District with more repairs on the way! If you would like to partner with us on a similar improvement in your neighborhood, please contact our team at (213) 207-3015.

INTRODUCING A RECENT HOUSING SOLUTION

RAMPART VILLAGE - Councilmember O'Farrell recently visited the Rampart Mint, one of our latest housing solutions in the 13th District that is helping formerly unhoused individuals who are medically underserved move along a pathway to wellness and stability. Our team championed this project from the very beginning and is thankful to service provider, APAIT; West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation; and the Transgender Advisory Council for their partnership in helping to bring this housing online. We need an all hands on deck approach to providing housing and services that meets people where they are and helps the most vulnerable among the unhoused. The 22 rooms at the Rampart Mint do just that.

SATURDAY: TOM LABONGE DAY OF SERVICE

SILVER LAKE - Join us this Saturday, October 9, at 8:30am, for the inaugural Tom LaBonge Day of Service! Former Councilmember Tom LaBonge was often known as "Mr. Los Angeles" for his love of LA and his tireless work on behalf of Angelenos. To honor his life, legacy and what would have been his 68th birthday, we are partnering with other Council offices and City Departments to host five cleanups across the City. Join city leaders, volunteers, neighbors and friends to make our communities shine a little brighter and show our LA love. Tools will be provided, and masks will be required.

KICKING OFF FILIPINO AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

HISTORIC FILIPINOTOWN - On Saturday, Councilmember O'Farrell kicked off Filipino American History Month at the 19th annual HiFi Festival. Los Angeles' Filipino American community is foundational to our City's history and we are better for it.

HELP US CREATE A BETTER LIBRARY SYSTEM

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Public Library is conducting a survey to better understand how the library meets patron needs, and how Angelenos feel about the library as a welcoming and safe place. The library would love to hear from you about your experience. Please take this 3-minute survey, available in EnglishՀայերեն中文한국어Español, and Tagalog.
