Thu, Jun 6 @ 6:30pm
Korean Cultural Center DC

Hanbok, or traditional Korean attire, has been worn for festivals, ceremonies, and celebrations for over 1,600 years. This program explores the unique characteristics of hanbok and its use today in Korean television dramas, part of the global pop culture phenomenon known as Hallyu. Hanbok specialists Lee Minjung, Hwang Suntae, and Um Jungok from Seoul will demonstrate how to wear two iconic outerwear pieces from Korea's ancient Joseon Dynasty: the Dopo (gentleman's overcoat) and Jang-ot (lady's veil). This is the first event in the Korean Cultural Center's new K-lecture series, which aims to enhance awareness and understanding of Korean culture and society in the United States.
