The True Nature of the Bible

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and it’s profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good work
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Mission Prayer

This week we are praying for Compassion UK

Certain members of our church support four young people through the Christian child development charity Compassion UK. Two boys and two girls are based in Thailand, East Indonesia, Haiti, and Tanzania. The funding provides education, school books, and uniform, health care, and the support of a local church. A gift is given for their birthdays and this continues until they begin work or finish education at 22 years.

Thank you to all of you who continue to send in your offerings and tithes online. If you are a regular giver or wish to make a donation you can do so online through our website. It's safe, secure and is another way of reducing the risk of spreading contamination through the use of cash or cheques. As ever, you are not obliged to give but if it is your wish to, this route is open to you.

November - Church Month of prayer

At this unprecedented time, we will be holding a special month of prayer seeking God concerning the church during November. Each week, we will be following this pattern:

  • Monday 3-4pm - Personal prayer wherever you are.
  • Wednesday 10.30-11.30am - Church open for personal and corporate prayer
  • 7.30-8.30pm - Church open for personal and corporate prayer Friday

Each Monday, Maudlyn will be providing a Bible verse for personal prayer. If you would like to receive the verse either by text or WhatsApp, please leave your name at the Welcome Desk or text Maudlyn on 07463 767896.

Please do make a note of anything you sense God says to you for the church during the course of the month. On Saturday 28th November we will meet at 10.30-11.30am to share these things and pray together. Consequently, on Friday 27th November there will be no evening prayer gathering, but an encouragement to pray for an hour wherever you are.

Online Services

We will no longer be pre-recording our services. We will now record and stream the service live on Sunday to our YouTube channel. If you have been watching our services on Facebook we would ask that you subscribe to our channel on YouTube instead.

Clocks go back tonight

Don't forget that the clocks go back by an hour tonight. If you have a smartphone or other device it will probably self-adjust. However, other clocks on the microwave, car dashboard, central heating thermostat and other analogue devices will need attention.

Tearfund's The Big Quiz Night is back!

Join us online on at 7.30pm, Saturday 14th November for the Big Quiz Night. This is in aid of Tearfund, a Christian Charity fighting to end poverty in some of the most challenging places on earth. Gather your friends and family and have them sign up for the quiz.

Volunteers urgently needed

Thank you to those who have already signed up to the rotas. We still need volunteers to sign up for the cleaning rota so that we can clean the church after Sunday service. As we need to do more cleaning than usual due to the government regulations we will need at least three volunteers a week. Please speak to Helen, fill in this form on our website or email her -, if you can spare the time. Many hands make light work.

Trussell Trust are recruiting

Trussell Trust is working to end the need for food banks. They are currently on the lookout for the people to fill various roles in their organisation. Some of them are:

  • Head of Brand & Marketing
  • People Partner
  • Events Engagement Coordinator
  • Influencer Engagement Manager
If you would like to apply for these and other jobs please visit their website.

Church is open

The church building is open for worship every Sunday.

  • The church doors will open at 10am to allow plenty of time for people to settle in before the service.
  • The car park will be closed so if you are driving to church you will need to park on Huxbear Road or Brockley Grove.
  • We will continue to provide a pre-recorded online service for those who need to or would prefer to, stay at home.

Pastor Steve is on leave

Pastor Steve will be on annual leave from Friday 23rd October to Monday 2nd November.

Standing in the gap

Pray for Nigeria that we see peace, real change and a brighter future for the next generation.

Pray for the children in our country facing real hunger over the half-term. Continue to speak to your elected representatives to fight the cause of the hungry and the poor.

For our former pastor Rev Sue Christie in her new role as village chaplain in the East Midlands, that she will hear from God, discern His leading and chat and possibly pray with villagers as she is out and about. After her cancer, she is still vulnerable healthwise. She sends her love to all at CPBC!

Send in your announcement for the newsletter by Wednesday to be included in the next issue.
