Unexpected encounter on the journey of disappointment

"Didn't our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us"
Luke 24:32

This week

Friday 4pm - CPBC Zoom meetup

Mission Prayer

This week we are praying for Tearfund

Tearfund is a charity that works with local churches helping them to unlock their potential and fight poverty in their communities. When disaster strikes they respond quickly.
Their mission statement reads "we won't stop until poverty stops".
Their current campaign invites us to take part in a "toilet twinning" campaign to support their coronavirus response in some of the poorest places on the planet in need of sanitation and other aid. Listen to the announcements in the service for more details.

Giving your offering online

Thank you to all of you who continue to send in your offerings and tithes online. If you are a regular giver or wish to make a donation you can do so online through our website. It's safe, secure and is another way of reducing the risk of spreading contamination through the use of cash or cheques. As ever, you are not obliged to give but if it is your wish to, this route is open to you.

Sponsor Judith - Unlock Walk goes virtual

Unlock is a Christian charity that supports inner city churches of any denomination to bring the Bible to ‘text-shy’ and ‘non-book learners. We usually have four of our members take part in the Unlock Walk to help raise money for this charity but not this year. Find out more Unlock Urban website.
However, Judith will be taking part so please support her and those who would've taken part by giving generously through our website or contact her. Thank you to those who have already given.

Trussell Trust are hiring

Trussel Trust are the organisation behind food banks, supporting them as they provide the best possible support and emergency food to people in crisis. Their 2020 mission is to end the need for food banks and they are looking to recruit to three posts:
  • Regional Lead, London and South-East London - closes 12 noon on Monday 4 May 2020
  • Communications Officer - closes 12 noon on Friday 8 May 2020
  • Salesforce Development Manager - closes 12 noon on Monday 11 May 2020
For more details and to apply, visit their website

Communion Service next Sunday

Next Sunday we will be having a communion service with a difference; we won't be in the same physical space. However, we ask that you join in with a red drink and a piece of bread or cracker as we celebrate together during the broadcast.

Online catchup

Thanks to all who made our last Friday catchup. It was another great opportunity to share and see familiar faces. We'll be meeting up at a different time this week as it's Bank Holiday this Friday and we're told there are two people planning Zoom parties for their birthdays. Join us at 4pm on 8 May 2020 for a quick 30 minute call. Download the app using the links below or join from a web browser.
If you don't know how to join a Zoom meeting or set it up on your phone or computer have a look at this article.

Using Workplace and Workchat

Our Workplace intranet allow you to connect with members individually or in groups. You can video chat, share your experiences or set up online prayer and bible study groups. Unlike the free version of Zoom, there's no time limit to video chat. If you want to find our more contact Clement.

If you've got young ones at home from 2-13 years, you've probably been inundated with apps for all sorts of learning aids. If you're looking for one that helps with reading and spelling but want to try before you buy, try Reading Eggs. It has a virtual library, some gamification where your kids can compete with others in spelling tests along with the ability to earn badges. They currently have a 30-day free trial. Here's a link to their website.
