Created to become like Christ - Part 1

God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son
Romans 8:29

Mission Prayer

Our mission prayer this week is for Street Pastors

Street Pastors go out into the nighttime community offering a kind word, assistance and a pair of slippers to those who may find themselves in a difficult position on a night out. During this time of restricted movement, they are not working in the community but are always praying for those who have to work the frontline to keep us all safe.

Giving online

During the closure of the church, we are working to make sure we can still do God's work in the community, supporting our members and our missions. As much as possible we are making every effort to function as best as we can. As part of this, if you are a regular giver or wish to make a donation you can do so online through our website. It's safe, secure and is another way of reducing the risk of spreading contamination through the use of cash or cheques. As ever, you are not obliged to give but if it is your wish to, this route is open to you.

Keeping in touch

In this current situation, it could be a challenge keeping in touch with friends and family. The leadership team will be making every effort to keep in touch with our members and church attendees. If you know of anyone who could do with a call, let us know by emailing
If you are looking for creative ways to keep in touch using your phone or tablet read this article on our website.

Online groups for church members

If you are a member of the church and would like to form online groups for prayer, fellowship or just keeping connected, you can start or join a group on our Workplace intranet.
Workplace allows you to make group video and voice calls or message each other, you can also have group discussions and organise events like online prayer groups or watch parties.
Contact Clement if you would like to join or are having problems getting into the site.

Support the work of LewCAS

Lewisham Churches for Asylum Seekers still needs your support, especially in these trying times. Whilst most of the volunteers are self-isolating, we have been blessed with some younger volunteers who are helping to pick up donations and help with shopping trips. If you would like to donate money to help, please contact Judith.
Linda has been helping to pick up donations but to protect our volunteers we would prefer cash donations through our bank. Contact Judith or visit the website at

Coronavirus - looking after yourself and others

Up to date information about coronavirus is available at
Please remember to:
  • wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, regularly during the day or use hand sanitiser
  • catch your sneezes in a tissue and dispose of it immediately
  • avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • stay home and avoid unnecessary journeys
We will continue to pray for all our sisters and brothers across the world who have been and are continuing to be, affected by COVID-19.  We pray that all will know God’s overwhelming, steadfast love.

Help in present times

If you or someone you know is self-isolating, there are a number of groups that can help with shopping, a friendly phone call or running urgent errands. Visit Covid-19 Mutual Aid website to see what groups are in your area.

Standing in the gap

Pray for people in isolation and for those suffering the effects of the virus.

Pray for the families and people who will fall through the cracks of the government’s assistance packages. Pray that volunteers and other organisations will be able to provide the safety net for them.

Pray for those working on the frontline at risk of infection from Covid-19. Pray for our GPs, nurses, emergency doctors and first responders.

Pray that we can be the beacon of light in our community where all seems dark and confused.

Send in your announcement for the newsletter by Wednesday to be included in the next issue.
