Habakkuk - from confusion to confidence

'Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren ... yet... I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!'
Habakkuk 3:17-18

Mission Prayer

This week we are praying for Home Mission

Home Mission is the name given to the area of Baptist life within the UK.
Each church is asked to make a financial contribution to outreach which cannot afford the stipend of a minister or youth worker.
This week we are praying for all those who come to our activities that we cannot reach at this time.
The three main activities run by CPBC are Rainbow Drop In for toddlers and their carers on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Welcome Inn lunches for those free fortnightly on Wednesdays, and Youth Club on Wednesday evenings.

Volunteers urgently needed

We urgently need volunteers to sign up for the cleaning rota so that we can clean the church after Sunday service. As we need to do more cleaning than usual due to the government regulations we will need at least three volunteers a week. Please speak to Helen, fill in this form on our website or email her -, if you can spare the time. Many hands make light work.

Church reopening plans

We are now pleased to inform you that subject to no subsequent reintroduction of restrictions on places of worship, we will reopen our church building for Sunday morning worship on 20 September.

  • The church doors will open at 10am to allow plenty of time for people to settle in before the service.
  • The car park will be closed so if you are driving to church you will need to park on Huxbear Road or Brockley Grove.
  • We will continue to provide a prerecorded online service for those who need to or would prefer to, stay at home.

Zoom quiz

If you would like to take part in a Zoom quiz hosted by Shola the first one will take place on Friday 9th October at the usual time of 7.30pm.
Sign up for Zoom details on our website.

Giving your offering online

Thank you to all of you who continue to send in your offerings and tithes online. If you are a regular giver or wish to make a donation you can do so online through our website. It's safe, secure and is another way of reducing the risk of spreading contamination through the use of cash or cheques. As ever, you are not obliged to give but if it is your wish to, this route is open to you.

Communion Service

There will be a communion service this Sunday so please prepare for it by having a small red drink and piece of bread to hand so we can share together.

Share your lockdown experience

Would you like to share your positive experiences over the lockdown? We would like to create a compilation of positive stories to share with everyone when church reopens on the 20th of September.
In the absence of congregational singing, we would like to invite people to self-record very short (1-2 minutes) messages saying what's been difficult for you in lockdown, what's been good and a blessing, and finally, how God has spoken to you and what you have learned. If you would like to take part record a few sentences about a minute or two long and send it via to or WhatsApp Clement latest 14th of September 2020.
When recording using your phone please hold it in a 'landscape' position as shown in the photo above.

Pastoral Issues

If you are aware of any pastoral issues that you feel the church pastoral team should be aware of, please contact Steve or a member of the Leadership Team.
