How are you evolving as a professional?
As you create your vision for your practice, it is of critical importance to examine and plan for the evolution of YOU.  One thing we all have in common as professionals is that we want to get better at what we do, yet many professionals don’t reach their potential (or even get the developmental momentum they want) for a variety of reasons.

The biggest reason is that most individuals do not invest time in formulating a vision for development of knowledge and/or skill in the first place.  It is difficult, if not impossible, to plan for development when there is no vision.
Professionals get bombarded with development opportunities and take advantage of this one or that, but are left with a lot of pieces that don’t fit in the same puzzle.  These professionals never really move the needle and their practices cannot evolve because they are not evolving as professionals.
You do not have to be one of these professionals!
Ask yourself:
  • Who do I want to evolve to in my practice?
  • What skills will I need to develop or hone?
  • What do I need to know to get there?
Once you have a vision which includes who YOU will evolve into in your practice, you have the raw material you need to build a development plan to which you can hold yourself accountable.
From that point on, you can engage in development opportunities that aid in the progression toward your developmental goals.

"It is important to realize that the evolution of a practice - one that truly moves in concert with the professional environment - does not happen without behavioral shifts from the individual.  It is a symbiotic relationship."
