SEFI Extraordinary General Assembly
4 April 2017 - SEFI will hold its extraordinary General Assembly after the end of ECED 2017 at Technical University Munich. The purpose of this extraordinary GA is to ratify the modifications of the statutes as approved in Tampere last September. The assembly will take about one hour. The details about the voting and the programme of the assembly will be circulated one month prior to the event, as indicated in the SEFI statutes.

EUA Annual Conference 
The EUA Annual Conference will take place in Bergen, Norway on 6-7 April and the topic will be Autonomy and freedom: The future sustainability of universities. The Conference will discuss how autonomy and freedom of universities can be linked to address the current political, economic and societal challenges in Europe.
5th European Women Rector Conference 
European Women Rectors Conference will take place at Solvay Library, Brussels on 29-30 May, 2017. The special focus of the conference will be on Pivoting on gender eauqlity through the lens of leadership: Policies, Strategies and Actions. You may submit your abstracts until 15th March 2017. SEFI should be represented at this event.
Reminder: Call for papers 
The deadline for submission of full papers, the work in progress, as well as the student papers for LACCEI 2017 is on 1st February 2017. Papers are accepted in English Spanish and Portuguese. The conference will take place on July 19-21 2017, at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, USA.

AAEE-2017 Integrated Engineering
AAEE-2017 is being hosted by Macquarie University Dept. of Engineering, and will be held at the Manly Novotel, Sydney, 10-13th December 2017. The theme for 2017 is “Integrated Engineering”, which covers a range of sub-themes, such as:
· Integration of theory and practice in the learning and teaching process
· Interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary engineering programs and learning environments
· Integration of teaching and research in the engineering training process
· The role and impact of engineers and the engineering profession in the wider community
· Systems perspectives on engineering education.
Integration is also about connections, e.g. between students and teachers, between students in learning together, and between educational institutions and industry and wider society in the engineering education process.

EURYDICE: Support Mechanisms for Evidence-based Policy-Making in Education
Having a solid evidence base is essential for effective policy-making in the education sector. In practice the mechanisms used to support evidence-based policy-making differ significantly between countries. This report describes the mechanisms and practices that support evidence-based policy-making in the education sector in Europe. It provides an initial mapping of a complex area. It compares institutions and practices in evidence-based policy-making, as well as the accessibility, and mediation, of evidence. The report also presents more detailed information, with specific examples of the use of evidence in policy formulation for each individual country.

From Erasmus to Erasmus+: a story of 30 years
27 January 2017 - The Commission has launched celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the start of Erasmus, one of the most successful programmes of the European Union. The Commission has also published the Erasmus+ Annual Report 2015, which covers the second year of Erasmus+, the current programme for education, training, youth and sport from 2014 to 2020. New figures show record number of participants in Erasmus+
The European Commission published today new figures showing that the EU's education and training programme, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is more successful and open than ever says the EC's press release. In 2015, Erasmus+ enabled 678,000 Europeans to study, train, work and volunteer abroad, more than ever before. In the same year, the EU invested €2.1 billion in over 19,600 projects involving 69,000 organisations. Results also show that the programme is well on track to meet its target of supporting 4 million people between 2014 and 2020.
Horizon 2020 and FP9: EUA policy dialogue with Carlos Moedas
At the EUA Council meeting on 27 January 2017 in Brussels, the Association will hold a special policy dialogue on the future of Horizon 2020 and the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9). Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, will participate in the discussion, along with other key voices.
