An agenda for the modernisation of higher education
In the initiative 'Investing in Europe's Youth', adopted on 7 December 2016, the Commission stresses how important it is for young people to have access to high quality education. In a world of great change, where young people are particularly at risk of unemployment, where demand for high-level skills and creativity is growing across the economy, and where increasingly divided societies need more citizens capable of critical thinking and constructive action, higher education is more crucial than ever. As part of a wider package of activities to support education at all levels in its 2017 work program, the Commission has committed to presenting an updated agenda for the modernization of higher education in the second quarter of 2017.
