Fund Pledges Additional Resources for Hurricane Relief Efforts

Hurricane Michael caused severe damage to Port St. Joe, Florida, a community with deep ties to the Jessie Ball duPont Fund. According to FEMA, 57% of structures (homes and businesses with addresses in the town) were damaged and residents are facing extraordinary costs as they clean up properties and arrange temporary housing.  In addition to supporting the immediate disaster response, the Fund has awarded several grants to meet the unique needs of residents and organizations in Port St. Joe.

Fund Releases 2018 BLOCK by BLOCK Study; Partners with LISC to Host Opportunity Zone Forum

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund in October released the 2018 BLOCK by BLOCK report, providing a detailed look at residential housing in Jacksonville, Florida. The report release was accompanied by other neighborhood and community analyses, and followed by a LISC-hosted Opportunity Zones seminar that provided information on new tax incentives intended to connect private investment capital with low-income communities.

New Jessie Ball duPont Community Building Fund To Benefit Virginia’s Northern Neck

The trustees of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund have established the Jessie Ball duPont Community Building Fund at the River Counties Community Foundation in Kilmarnock, Virginia, to benefit the people, organizations and communities in the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Fund Supports Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress

Support from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund will enable the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress, Baltimore, Maryland, to expand services to children and families affected by abuse, neglect, exposure to violence, and other traumatic experiences

December Webinar on Measuring Your Mission: Using Data to Track Organizational Health and Success

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund’s final 2018 webinar, Measuring Your Mission: Using Data to Track Organizational Health and Success, will be offered on December 11, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm EST.  Instructors will review research on what's actually working for nonprofits and discuss defining your own data-based metrics strategy.

Appreciating the Importance of Small Grants

In addition to offering competitive grants, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund has a robust small grants program that supports grantees’ in a multitude of ways. Small grants – each $5,000 or less – are awarded to support technical assistance, to enable grantees to assess the feasibility of new ideas or programs, and to take advantage of unique opportunities. Year to date, the Fund has awarded 75 small grants worth $347,671. If you would like to learn more about the small grants program, contact your program officer.
