Our world is in trauma right now and that trauma is often accompanied by fear and can lead to oppression and violence of one people against another.
Throughout this season we will recognize that the world we live in now is similar to the world into which Jesus was born and through which his teachings would challenge and call for transformation.
We will be grounded each week by the opening words of an anonymous Jewish poet, “I believe in the sun, even when the sun is not shining,” calling us to transformation and reconciliation through hope, love, joy, and peace.
This Advent and Christmas, let us fill the night with music and light and affirm and act on the reasons why we can still “believe, even when” we are discouraged.
