The P3 Scoop

The scoop on P3 events, community happenings, partner offers, what's on our radar & more...
Black Women Leaders Making History Now

It's the last week of Black History Month so we are touching on this important subject one more time. For the past month, we have recognized black women founders and VCs dominating the tech world. They are leading businesses and scaling innovative solutions every day, including here in P3 as fearless Pod Leaders. We are so proud to highlight them:

We must continue to highlight the accomplishment and success of these leaders so future leaders can be inspired by their lives and work. According to the incubator and research center, DigitalUndivided, businesses with women of color CEOs get less than 1 percent of all VC funding every year. The main reason is that many white and male investors don’t often have many women or people of color in their professional networks. Personal connections are inherently limiting. We must all look beyond social networks, make diversity a priority, and be deliberate in recruiting to build diverse management teams and workforces.

Think Like a Leader

The qualities of leadership transcend gender. This past week, our P3 Instructor Diana Pavlovská took the stage to teach our West Coast community leadership strategies in effective communication.

During her Parity Talk, she posed a great question:

What does it mean to share your convictions and ideas?

Diana discussed the value our members can bring to their audience - but it starts with courage. Courage is the foundation to build a vision and it takes a lot of courage to share how you identify yourself as a leader. We named this P3 course Taking the Stage because it's time for us to stand up and stand out. Diana said that "we expect other people to know what we’re good at." It is important to identify your skills and engage your audience by "showing what is in it for them."

In the News

Google eliminating controversial forced arbitration practice.
Google is the latest big tech company to announce that it's eliminating forced arbitration for employees. The new policy, which goes into effect on March 21, will apply to all current and future employees around the world.

Diversity Wins
Numbers don't lie, diversity in VC partnerships leads to more financial gains. We are seeing momentum across government, public and private sectors, including NYC's new law banning hair discrimination and the MoMa closing to reopen as a more inclusive museum.
