Wiltshire Wobbleberries Team News

So here we are in November already! I have a huge amount to share with you this time so please grab a coffee or even a glass of wine, get your diary ready and sit back and digest all the exciting stuff I have to share with you over the coming page or two!

Oh Wow Club!

Firstly I would like to say a HUGE well done to those of you that have already donated to the Oh Wow Club - myself, Lyn Buckland, Eve Bateman, Tracy Brett and Claire Warman! Well done ladies and I am sure many more of us will have some "Oh Wow" moments in the coming months. This is a little bit of fun where you donate to the county JG page a small donation of just £2. In return for that you will be entered into a draw at the end of the season to win a bottle a champagne donated by the Garden Elf (my hubby's business) plus a number of other goodies. For each oh wow moment you will be awarded a raffle ticket so definitely worth it. It is really essential we celebrate these moments and it be as simple as your first jump for many years (a massive thing) or a great hack or your first clinic - whatever makes you go "Oh Wow!"

Tumblers Club!

We have also had a few (thankfully only a few) members to our Tumblers Club! This is a roll back to my hunting days and if you take a tumble you simply donate a small amount to the county JG page for the end of season draw again similar to the Oh Wow club!.I am a member along with my elbow and we also have members from WB HQ (Sally) as well as our neighbouring counties of Hampshire and Dorset. No one wants to fall off but this is turning it into a positive and raising a few extra pennies in the process so all good! Garden Elf is donating another bottle of champagne and we are also collecting a few other goodies together for this one as well from our lovely supporters!

Recommended Reading!

So together with all the official BE documents, handbook and dressage tests, etc I have already uploaded to the files section of the group I would also like to share with you some other resources as I discover them. The first is a brilliant book published in association with British Eventing and as comprehensive guide as you could wish for from Liza Randall. "Eventing Explained" by Liza Randall and published by Kenilworth Press is an indispenable guide to getting started in the sport of eventing! I have been lucky enough to event before but even I am discovering lots of top tips in this book and already on p103 during my broken elbow reading catch up time!

Clinics & Events!

E-Dressage - monthly classes and a league just for Wobbleberries nationwide but with all E-Dressage donations going to the Wiltshire Wobbleberries Just Giving Page! There are tests for every level and you get full feedback together with a test sheet posted to you afterwards for your records and future training! from BD Intro and BD Prelim to BE90 (these are the BE80 tests we will be doing next year)! I cant recommend this enough - great if you dont have transport or are maybe nervous of competing in public just yet! All judges are full BD judges and its a fabulous way of not only getting feedback but also donating to our amazing challenge :-)

Flatwork Clinics with Tanya Neville - Tanya is a fabulous trainer and we are really lucky to have her offer her services to us with a number of clinics. Tanya has coached my daughter and myself in the pass so I can recommend her from personal experience. If I was currently riding and not battling a broken elbow I would definitely be there with one or two of our horses!
We have the first clinics on Sunday 27th November - Level 1 at 12pm and Level 2 at 2pm. Then again on Sunday 11th December - Level 1 at 12pm and Level 2 at 2pm. Please book using our WB booking forms, once a place is confirmed make a deposit donation to the Wiltshire JG page and then pay Tanya the balance on the day!

West Country Equine Fair - this isn't official event as such but well worth a little visit. Only down the M5 at Westpoint, Exeter and a great shopping opportunity. I am getting Bank of Hubby to take me especially now I am not driving lol. It could be a great opportunity to get together with a few friends too :-)

Other Clinics & Events! - across the south west we are lucky enough to have some lovely neighbours that are also organising events so keep your eyes open in Gloucestshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset for their events too. In addition to this there are lots of non WB clinics and events always happening to make sure you are in all the local equestrian groups to discover when and where these are as well!

Just a gentle reminder, but please make sure you have arranged for personal accident insurance moving forward. If you are a member of BHS, Riding Clubs or BE you will get some cover but make sure it covers all of your riding activities. No one wants to think about injuries or accidents but it was part of your declaration when you signed up that you arranged suitable cover. There are some great companies out there that offer comprehensive insurance cover at a sensible price and remember that eventing even at the lower levels is a high risk sport!

And Finally...

Please keep letting me know about any secret discovered arenas, gallops or indoor schools you discover. We may be able to use them for clinics but they could be useful for individuals training too! We now have a super selection of BE coaches and trainers we will be working with over the coming months but I would encourage you to get out and about attending lots of clinics and training opportunities!
