Principal's Message

Dear Afterschool Parents and Guardians,

Happy Lunar New Year!

Thanks to your dedicated support and our team's hard work, our Spring 2022 Afterschool program has successfully completed its first month. Not only did we enroll a number of new students, but we were also honored to have onboarded several new professional teachers. This newsletter will highlight a few of them. Check with your children, and you will find out how popular these new teachers are! 

Please be notified that tomorrow, February 1, our Afterschool program will be closed for the Lunar New Year according to the MCPS schedule. Our Afterschool will reopen on Wednesday, February 2.

Nevertheless, our very popular Day Camp will be open tomorrow from 9:00 am -- 6:00 pm, where your children will be attending a variety of courses and activities and enjoying healthy, nutritious lunch. We heard positive feedback from the parents and students because our Day Camp helps improve the students' academic performance and social-emotional development while offering the kind of flexibility that our families need. To sign your children up, please click on:

Teacher Highlights

Ms. Paige Kim
Subject: Element of 2D Art
Schedule: Thursday

Ms. Paige Dasol Kim is an artist, independent curator, and art educator based in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. She has taught art for all ages for 11 years. Currently, she teaches painting courses at Anne Arundel Community College and CCACC Academy. Born in South Korea, Paige moved to the United States at 15. Her artworks are shown internationally and locally. She also curated exhibitions and created related programming. Paige graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with a B.F.A. in Painting (minor in Art Education) and an M.F.A. in Curatorial Practice (minor in Critical Studies).
Ms. Lynne Lim
Subjects & Schedule:
  • Reading Comprehension & Writing 5-6: Monday
  • Reading Comprehension & Writing 3-4: Tuesday
  • Reading Comprehension & Writing 4-5: Wednesday
Ms. Lynne Lim has been an English Language teacher for over 20 years. Her professional history includes working with students from different cultural backgrounds in various primary and secondary schools in Singapore and the United States. She has taught English to students from different countries, e.g., Malaysia, China, France, Indonesia, the Philippines and the United States. In addition to teaching Reading Comprehension & Writing at CCACC Academy, she is also teaching SAT English, Reading Comprehension and Writing Courses to students from Grades 5-12. Her SAT English class helps her students build a strong foundation in Reading and Writing to feel well-prepared and confident in taking the SAT when they are ready. 
Mr. Cheng Yang
Subjects & Schedule:
  • Math Kangaroo Level 3-4: Tuesday
  • Math Olympiads Division E: Wednesday 
  • Math Kangaroo Level 1-2: Thursday
Mr. Cheng Yang is a recent graduate from Georgetown University where he received his Master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics. He is focusing on Applied Mathematics and Statistics in the finance area. Currently, he is working as a professional financial analyst in a mortgage modeling consulting group. Additionally, he is also glad to support children’s success in Mathematics and Computer Science. He was tutoring some children at elementary school to get great improvement on Math subjects. He is preparing some course materials for the Math Olympiad and coding with Python and R.

CCACC Academy is a reputable nonprofit educational institution and community cultural and educational space with year-round STEAM & STEM programs, Reading & Writing, Chinese, performing art, fine arts, and sports programs for K-12 students and a stimulating bilingual early education center. Our Afterschool Enrichment program is one of the largest ones in Rockville, Maryland. Since 2015, we have provided children with a nurturing atmosphere for their afterschool experience with enthusiasm and professionalism, supervising homework, and providing a variety of enriching and creative activities they can participate in such as STEM, Chinese, Reading & Writing, music, and sports.
