ASSOCIATE OFFICE OF GRATA INTERNATIONAL IN LATVIA – ALLIKS UN PARTNERI CHANGES ITS NAME TO GRATA LATVIA
GRATA International is glad to announce that associate office in Latvia ALLIKS un PARTNERI changed its name to GRATA Latvia.

For more than a year GRATA International has successfully cooperated with its associate office in Latvia. Collaborative work between the firms has stepped up to another level, opening even more opportunities for development.

International Comparative Legal Guide to Public Procurement 2017: Kazakhstan

The new public procurement law entered into force on 1 January 2016.

The new public procurement legislation brings significant improvements to the current legislation by promoting increased quality procurement projects, controlling the growth of the budget expenses, reducing bureaucracy and supporting innovation in the development of public projects. It remains to be seen how the authorities will actually apply such new regulation and how the debates that have been already initiated in relation to certain provisions will be resolved by the courts of law.

Common market of medicines of the Eurasian Economic Union

On 3 November 2016, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EAEC) adopted a set of regulations aimed at the implementation of the Agreement for Common Principles and Rules of Medicines Circulation within the Eurasian Economic Union, dated 23 December 2014 (the Agreement), including the following:

Changes in the list of medical devices originating from foreign countries that are restricted for public procurement in Russia

The Decision of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1268 dated 30 November 2016 significantly extended the list of certain medical devices originating from foreign states which are restricted for procurement for state and municipal needs approved by Decision of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 102 dated 5 February 2015.

Yerzhan Yessimkhanov took part in annual FIDIC International Contract Users' Conference

FIDIC International Contract Users' Conference,the largest annual discussion of construction contracts organised by FIDIC, was held on 6-7 December 2016 in London (UK). 

GRATA International was represented by Yerzhan Yessimkhanov, Partner and Head of Construction & Infrastructure practice of GRATA International. Mr. Yessimkhanov also participated in discussion of current practice and foreseeable updates to FIDIC Red, Yellow and Silver books, as well as the new Renewables Contract and Blue Book update. 
Shaimerden Chikanayev took part in Almaty Invest 2016 as a moderator of the PPP session

Shaimerden Chikanayev, Partner at GRATA International law firm was the moderator of the Public Private Partnership section of Almaty Invest Forum 2016: “Investing in Almaty - Global Perspectives”.
IV International Investment Forum Almaty Invest 2016 was held on December 8-9, 2016 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The event was organised by Almaty City Administration and focused on investment opportunities in Almaty.

The annual Almaty Invest Forum brought together over 500 high-level participants, including state representatives, world and domestic business leaders, executives of financial institutions, investment corporations and international organizations.


During the meeting 50 memorandums according to investment projects for the total amount of 300 billion tenge (900 mln US dollars) were signed. 

The main agenda of the Forum was stimulation of development of business, expansion of investment opportunities for both local and international investors and evolvement of Almaty into regional economic hub of the new Silk Road and strategic market for global corporations and retailers in Central Asia.

Gulnur Nurkeyeva spoke at the training for investors on 'One Belt One Road' initiative

On 8 December 2016, the 15th Anniversary of China's Accession to the WTO was held in Changsha City, Hunan province, PRC.
Agenda of the event:
  • China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CZT) Legal Service Center;
  • An Interpretation of the International Economic and Trade Policies in the 15th Anniversary of China 's Entry intoWTO;
  • Training on the national investment and trade policies, environment and regulatory along the “One Belt One Road” countries- Kazakhstan, India.
Gulnur Nurkeyeva, Head of China Desk, acted as an expert from Kazakhstan and represented GRATA International with the topic on Investing Climate in Kazakhstan.
GRATA International took part in Caspian Energy Forum 2017’s special session, held on 14 December 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan

The event started with a minute of silence in commemoration of the All-National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
Executives and managers, more than 120 businesspeople from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, and 23 representatives of international organizations and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan attended the business-forum.

Several sessions devoted to the development of transport, finance, fuel and energy, ICT, agro-industry and other areas of economy would be held prior to the 4th International Caspian Energy Forum Baku - 2017 to be hosted on April 12, 2017. Challenges faced by the member companies of the Caspian European Club (Caspian Business Club) and the private sector as a whole will be deeply studied during special sessions, and member companies will be able to get answers to questions of their interest.
