Northern View

March 2017

From the Vicar

Dear friends of St Anne’s Church,

I do hope you are well.

As you can see we have updated the look of our Northern View newsletter. We would love to keep you updated with what’s happening at St Anne’s Church through this newsletter, and so we will aim for it to arrive in your email inbox approximately once every two months.

It does seem a long time ago, but we had some wonderful services to celebrate Christmas. With our Christingle service remaining ever popular and the church beautifully decorated with holly and exquisite advent wreath. We then had a more relaxed January with shortened services, a break from our regular activities, and also some of us attended our Diocesan wide church camp up in Raumati Beach with over 1000 others!

We are currently in the season of Lent that began last week on Ash Wednesday, however not before having a Pizza & Pancake party at the Vicarage on Shrove Tuesday (see article below). We now have our AGM (2 April), and more importantly, Easter celebrations on the horizon (times of services below). Also, keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates of what we're up to.

On a personal note, at the end of January Catherine and I welcomed the arrival of our second daughter, Charlotte. We are all healthy and well, just trying to keep on top of the sleep!

If you haven't had a visit from me and you'd like one, then please don't hesitate to be in touch (contact details at the end of this newsletter).

— Rev. Paul

Our Pizza & Pancake Party made it into the local paper (Independent Herald)

Messy Church

Messy Church has been thriving lately with a great buzz and fun had by all, and we've starting to attract up to 40-50 people. We begin with a time of activities and crafts, and we then gather for a time of celebration which involves some action songs and a short talk on the theme. We finish with a simple sit down dinner. Messy Church particularly caters for young families, but all are welcome. We gather once per month on the 3rd Sunday of the month, from 4-6pm.

The next one is this Sunday! We are encouraging people to register online (to help us organise), so click here if you'd like to come or help out.

Your Support

We're passionate about being the church at the heart of the community, where we are a community of faith who seek to make a positive difference locally and beyond. I want to thank you for your support, and in particular your financial support, which makes all that we do possible.

As we come to the end of the financial year, I invite you to consider reviewing what you give to St Anne's, whether that be a regular giving amount (by envelope or direct credit), or a one off gift. Remember that our government gives 33% Tax Rebate for all that you give! St Anne's bank account details are 03-0502-0144266-00
