Co-op Transitions

The end of Summer brings about change including the transition of our co-ops students. Thank you to co-ops Nicole Holguin-Cabrera, Note Nuchprayoon, A.J. Easterday, and D.J. Dawkins for all of your incredible work and resilience during the continued limitations of the pandemic.

And, welcome to our new Civic Technology and STEAM Education Co-op, Serenity Baruzzini!  Serenity will be assisting with the Digital Navigator program and various projects within the ILLEST Lab.

The Drexel Build

This year, the ExCITe Center is sponsoring the next phase of the Drexel Build! This re-creation of our University in Minecraft was founded by Drexel students in the early days of the pandemic and now includes most of our campus. We invite all students to update and expand the world to include more campus buildings and interior spaces, as well as structures in the surrounding neighborhood.

For those interested in participating, we’re hosting a project introduction and virtual building tutorial on Monday, Sept. 27 at 5pm (online). Click here to register for the event.

You can also get more info and connect with others involved in the project by joining the Drexel Build Discord Server
Join us for a special session at B.PHL Innovation Fest!
Pull up a chair for this fireside chat with renowned blogger, podcaster, and Drexel alumnus John Gruber, creator of the popular website Daring Fireball and tech podcasts The Talk Show and Dithering. He also created Markdown formatting, used by by nearly every development platform and messaging service.

For B.PHL 2021, Gruber will be interviewed by ExCITe Director, Youngmoo Kim, about his career trajectory across Philadelphia and his personal reflections on the city as a hub for technologists and independent creators. He'll share his experiences covering some of the most prominent tech companies, the impact of good design, the "1000 true fans" theory, and advice on curating one's own content and building an audience.
