#GivingTuesday & More

Critical fundraisers, holiday events, and new programming.

We are super excited for the craziness that this winter is going to bring! We are ramping up to bring you four entrepreneur/startup support series starting in January. In addition, we are working on pulling together a Citizens' Academy that will start in January and will lead up to Vermont Town Meeting Day. If that was not enough, we have our First Friday Gallery opening, Cohase Creatives Meetup, and Pop-Up Artisan Market to support our local arts community! December also bring several holiday events for our members to take advantage of. Check out some of the details below. For more information and events, follow our listings on Facebook or on our Google Calendar.

We Need Your Help!

This month is a big one for us. We have two large campaign goals that we need to reach within the next three weeks:

GRANT MATCH We are applying for $32,000 grant which requires a 50% match. We only have $6,700 left to raise. We have a local family willing to chip in $3,350 if we are able to match it. We're hoping you can help! This will help us build capacity with sound proof phone booths, a camera kit, and laptops that can be used for youth and adult computer classes.

BUSINESS PLANNING COURSE FEES We are running our first cohort of REACT UV (9-week class) with 16 local entrepreneurs. In order to do so, we need to cover the costs of the curriculum (license fee, student materials, and administrative overhead). Our goal is $10,000.

Inaugural Community Friendsgiving

Thank you so much for making this event a success! We served 35 people on Thanksgiving day. We could not have done it without support from local businesses, families, and individuals who donated, baked, and helped out! We cannot thank you enough! <3

Building Support for Entrepreneurs

Coming in January, we are kicking off 4 resources for entrepreneurs:

REACT UV BUSINESS PLANNING COURSE We have a cohort of 16 local entrepreneurs that will meet on Wednesday evenings January 8–March 4th. The businesses include: recreation/trail management, luxury car restoration, clothing design, movie theater/restaurant, forestry management, commercial construction smartphone application, wellness cushion production, general store with apartments, bed and breakfast with event hosting, dumpling catering, bakery/coffeeshop, community photo center, rural broadband connectivity, a winery, and bike sales and repair. We have people who have never owned a business, several who have started trying the business out on the side, and then one student who just sold the company he ran for his entire life and is pivoting to a market that is new to him. They are very excited to take their businesses to the next level.

REACT UV ENTREPRENEUR STORIES SERIES Eighteen local businesses have graciously agreed to share their stories with our cohort and the general public on six Mondays throughout January and February. Please join us to learn more about: Colatina Exit, Vittles Espresso, All-Access Infotech, Odell Insurance, Housewright Construction, Red Kite Candy, UV Coffee Roasters, Blythedale Farm, Copeland Furniture, VT Country Iron, Valley Floors, Crossmolina Farm, Root 5 Farm, Robie Farm, Sargent Metalworks (and 3 more TBD). Mondays 1/6, 1/13, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24 & 3/2 5:30–7:30pm.

STARTUP SIP SESSIONS Startup life can be draining and isolating, but it doesn't have to be! Come gather for coffee with other entrepreneurs who can relate to your struggles, successes, and excitement. We'll have coffee, tea, and treats. If you favor espresso varieties, swing by The Local Buzz, AK Coffee Chix, or Vittles on your way! PS We're keeping the definition for 'startup' loose. If you're creating and running your own business(es), you'll fit right in, no matter what stage you're at. Friday mornings 8:30–10:00am.

SERVICE BUSINESS PLANNING HYBRID We are partnering with The Center for Women & Enterprise, Do North Coworking (Lyndon), and Black River Innovation Campus (Springfield) to offer a 10-week business planning course for service entrepreneurs. This hybrid will have small cohorts meeting at three different coworking spaces, all of which will connect online with a CWE VT instructor. Fridays 10am–12pm. More information soon!
