2022: Just Getting Started

It's been a busy year, with so much more in store!

After the past two years we have all had, coming together around arts, music, food, youth camps, board gaming, business planning, and more has been so incredibly powerful. We have loved gathering with you, celebrating with you, learning with you, and meeting new friends with you. With every story shared, connection made, and life changed, gives us the energy to keep going. We are so excited for the coming months! Join us!

What Have We Been Up To?

REACT UV Business Planning Course Thanks to partnerships with LaunchVT and Center for Women & Enterprise, in addition to support from the US Department of Agriculture, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Vermont Community Foundation, and Wells River Savings Bank, we have had the opportunity to offer 3 10-week cohorts of our business planning course to 46 entrepreneurs this spring. We are incredibly lucky to have so many individuals who are looking to invest in the region, create jobs, and share their skills and passions with others. We look forward to bringing everyone together for networking opportunities very soon! If you or someone you know is seeking business support, please get in touch!

The Space: Camp 3D modeling, 3D printing, instrument building, board game design, Elizabeth Park excursions, felting, and pinball machine building were just some of the activities 19 students participated in during our two spring youth camps in partnership with Bradford Public Library. We couldn't have done this without the support of local families, Tif Vincent from Claremont Makerspace, a grant from Preservation Trust of VT (student laptops), and local instructors. We look forward to offering several more camps this year in addition to afterschool programs!

Music & Morsels Our inaugural bluegrass jam and dinner experience was such a powerful evening after years of increased isolation during COVID. Events like this are why we started The Space - participants of all ages and backgrounds coming together to share food and fun. A huge shoutout goes to our food vendors (Peyton Place, San Song Kitchen, Vittles, and Sweet n Savory) as well as Brian Carroll, one of our board members who single-handledly coordinates our musical talent! Keep an eye out for future evenings - they have sold out quickly so far!

Meeples on Main So many games! Every last Sunday of the month, we host a 12-hour day of board games. Open to all ages! Find out more!

Job Fair In April, we hosted our first job fair in partnership with Vermont Department of Labor. We have loved hearing stories from both employees who found jobs as well as employers who hired attendees! We look forward to hosting future fairs. In the meantime, you can find Ruth and Stacy from the Vermont Department of Labor at The Space every Thursday afternoon for all of your employment needs (for job seekers as well as employers).
