1st Birthday Edition!

12 months. 30 members/mo. 5925+ users (avg 475/mo).

We opened our doors one year ago today! Not only is The Space On Main still kicking, but it has blown every one of our goals out of the water. We had a goal of 25 monthly members and 1000 people interacting within its walls for the year. We have averaged 30 monthly members and 5925 people interacting within its walls this past year. People have pushed the boundaries of what we thought they would use it for and we have identified user segments that we had not imagined.

We had a goal of starting programming put on by SOM in Year 3, but heading into Year 2, we are: sponsoring a Code for America brigade (Code for UV Brigade); leading a number of one-off workshops; coordinating an entrepreneur panel series; putting together a Citizens' Academy; opening the year with two business accelerator/planning programs with LaunchVT and Center for Women & Enterprise Vermont; partnered with Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies to bring their amazing #ScaleHere mentoring and discount programs to members; hosting holiday parties and community meals; and serving as a resource to a wide variety of organizations.

And we still have so far to go! Our goals this year are to build out the makerspace, expand into the third floor, secure laptops for student programming, secure needed equipment and more furniture for members, build our member base, diversify our marketing strategy, and start building in a part-time salary for sustainability. We are excited for new partnerships that have been forming and cannot wait to expand these in the coming year. Thank you - everyone! <3
