Ministers Humphreys and Joe O’Brien announce €10 million Fund to support parish halls and community centres with energy bills

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State, Joe O’Brien TD, have today announced a new €10 million fund to support thousands of local community & voluntary groups with their energy bills.
The Community Support Fund will provide small grants to a wide and diverse range of local community groups to assist with their running costs.
Funding will be available to support Parish Halls, Community Centres, Local Development Associations, Social Clubs, ICA Groups, Senior Citizen Groups, Men’s Sheds, Women’s Sheds and much more.
The new scheme has been devised to support groups with their energy costs who may not have been deemed eligible under previous Government schemes.
These include groups that operate from parish halls and who need support with running costs such as energy or insurance bills.
Groups can also use the funding to carry out small upgrade works and to purchase equipment to support their activities such as laptops and printers, lawnmowers, training equipment, etc.

Roscommon County Council is appealing for offers of unoccupied properties to provide temporary homes for Ukrainian people and families.
The call is part of a new government initiative, led by local authorities. A tax-free recognition payment of €800 per month is available for properties used to house those arriving from Ukraine. This is an increased payment rate applying from December 1st 2022.
Under the new programme, Roscommon County Council will take offers of houses, apartments or holiday homes for temporary accommodation, liaise with owners to assess suitability, and arrange for their use by Ukrainian people and families.
Property owners can offer homes at www.offerahome.ie or by contacting the local authority in which the property is located.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, launched Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors - an ambitious and transformational National Outdoor Recreation Strategy. This 5 year strategy was developed in partnership with Comhairle na Tuaithe and is a collaborative cross-government strategy that reflects the views of stakeholders and the public. The new strategy will set the stage to strengthen and support the sustainable development of the outdoor recreation sector in Ireland for years to come bringing huge economic and health benefits to communities across the country.
Building on this ground-up, locally led approach, the Minister announced €14 million for the development of outdoor recreation amenities.
Roscommon was awarded €845,100 in total for
- Mote Park Sensory Sculpture and Natural Trail Experience €199,800
- Installation of accessible for all kayak/canoe easy launch systems in Lough Key, Doon Shore and Boyle Canal/River €199,800
- Rathcroghan Archaeological Looped Trails at the ancient royal site €445,500

The 2022 edition of Health in Ireland: Key Trends provides summary statistics on health and health care over the past 10 years.
Health in Ireland: Key Trends highlights selected trends and topics and includes data from newly available sources. There are also several tables and graphs comparing Ireland with other countries in the EU or the OECD, to provide context for national performance and to assess progress.
The publication is divided into 7 chapters covering topics from population growth, life expectancy and health status and introduces the Health System Performance Assessment (HSPA), an essential tool for monitoring health outcomes, outputs, processes and structures in the health system.

REBOOT is a South West Mayo Development Company, Roscommon/Sligo LEADER initiative aimed at businesses and social enterprises in Roscommon, Mayo and Sligo, supported by Roscommon/Mayo/Sligo Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs). Having launched REBOOT in September 2021, over 200 organisations have benefitted from FREE training and support from industry experts to help their business evolve and grow from the impacts of C19.
This FREE event is an opportunity for sole traders, small/medium businesses, community groups and social enterprises to kickstart or revamp their branding with advice from our Keynote Speaker, Aisling Roche Flanagan who has over 20 years experience.
Attendees will also hear from a business owner who has benefitted directly from REBOOT and achieved unprecedented growth.
