Dr. Arturo Cavazos and Dr. Nolan Perez visited with student leaders at Austin Elementary to talk about the amazing work being done by the students and teachers at the campus.
Austin Knights Choir
Twenty-one 5th grade girls from the Austin Knights Choir participated in the 4th Annual "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Choir Day at the HCISD Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, October 15th. Almost 400 girls from choirs all over the district in elementary, middle and high schools had a fun day making beautiful music together learning all about the various choral music programs available in our district.
Miss Eunice and the 5th grade boys choir members had a most excellent musical day Thursday, October 24th at the HCISD Performing Arts Center making music with almost 300 other young men in elementary, middle school and high school choral programs learning more about what it means: "We're the Men of the Choir". The boys enjoyed pizza for lunch after a morning of singing songs made just for the male voice.
Spanish Class In Spanish class students are reviewing "los animales" (pets/mascotas), learning vocabulary for "la familia" (family) and the significance of Día de los Muertos. Our students were able to display their pets on our class altar/ofrenda. Our students have been very excited of coming to Spanish class.
Our FLL Robotics team, City Savers, had the opportunity to visit the UTRGV Arecibo Remote Command Center and learn more about the ongoing research and projects they are currently working on.

2nd graders from Mrs. Moreno's class are rattling and tapping out their quarter note, eighth note, and half note rhythmic bones using lummi sticks and tambourines while enjoying some Quaver Music Halloween fun performing "Pumpkin Bones". During the second quarter in Music Classes we began our study about rhythmic notation.
Third graders in search of some items around our school to make their nature patterns.
Displaying their IB Learner Profiles: Students researched and created an informational pamphlet based on places around the RGV. They then presented their findings.
5th Grade at FHPA
Harlingen HCISD offers students an opportunity to participate in monthly events that are focused on the six areas of study offered at Harlingen School of Health Professions: Pharmacology / Biology, Medical Science Research, Therapeutic Services, Patient Care, Surgical Procedures, Dental Science & Veterinary Science.
Students will participate in interactive hands-on activities and listen to presentations from select community professionals and/or Harlingen School of Health Professionals’ students. Our students learned about the Skeletal System, created Brain Caps, and took a tour of the High School of Health Professions.

U.S. Border Patrol visited our Austin Knights to encourage them to “Just Say No” to drugs. Together we stand against drugs!
