High Spirits - July 2019

A Jubilant July

We ended the month of June with more light, not only from Mother Nature, but with the light of Spiritualism shining brightly!  What a glorious joy for our church to host the Morris Pratt Ministerial Skills 2-week course instructed by The Rev. Cosie Allen, NST, whose love and brilliance brought knowledge, growth and inspiration!  Thank you, Rev. Cosie!!! And Congratulations MPI course students! Each of you is truly a beacon of light for Spiritualism.

A summer of light and learning continues.  This month we exuberantly welcome back our dear friend, Austyn Wells, Spiritual Medium and Soul Gardener who will present a full day Mediumship Intensive Workshop, Saturday, July 27 from 10 am to 6 pm!  This workshop will benefit all levels.  Join us as we deepen our abilities and connection  to Spirit!  (See flyer for more information.  Register at  On Sunday, July  28, Austyn will serve as our Sunday speaker and bring greetings from our Spirit loved ones.
July is filled with joy as Church of the Comforter welcomes first time speaker, Gwen Rigby on Sunday July 7; our beloved President, Pauline Coleman, PhD on July 14, and our jubilant dear friend, The Rev. Dr. Julia Kyle on July 21.

As we approach Independence Day and our nation celebrates the 4th of July, may we reflect on the concept of freedom and contemplate the words of two men from very different life experiences. President Abraham Lincoln said: “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedom, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Vicktor Frankl, Holocaust survivor, neurologist and Psychiatrist said: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

As Spiritualists, may we be inspired by our principles, affirm our personal responsibility, and choose every thought, word and action from that space of power, so that we may grow, learn and, as stated in our NSAC Social Policy Statements regarding the subject of justice, “…. work ceaselessly to make this nation in reality a government of the people, by the people and for the people.”

With my love, Pastor Pam
