February 2018
Together, we created a VISION. Now let's make a reality!
Last year, MBF sparked a conversation about where you’d like to see the Middle Border region in the year 2035.  Nearly 1,200 of our neighbors responded with their hopes, dreams & bright ideas.  Now, it’s time to get to work!

Please join us at one of the upcoming VISION 2035 Work Group Kick Off sessions as we develop an action plan to reach the goals we’ve set together.
The Arts & Culture work group got the ball rolling last night with a diverse group of creatives from across the region.  We cannot wait to see what these next five sessions hold:

Education - February 21
Environment - February 22
Health & Wellness - March 6
Business - March 7
Infrastructure - March 8

All events will be hosted at MBF’s office (326 Main St, Unit 102, Danville, VA. 24541) from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  Registration is not required but encouraged through our Facebook Events page.
Time to Introduce the Moose!
Introducing the newest member of Team MBF, Moustafa “Moose” Nassar. Moose is serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA for one year with Middle Border Forward through a partnership with the Center for Community Engagement and Career Competitiveness (CCECC). A native of Long Island, NY and an Averett alum, Moose was interested in coming back to Danville to be part of the region's revitalization efforts.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. The program was created in 1965 by President John F. Kennedy and was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993. Each VISTA serves for a specific organization in need of his or her set of skills. Since 1965, over 220,000 VISTA members have served in all 50 states and U.S. Territories.

As the Middle Border Forward storyteller, Moose will be managing the communications and marketing of MBF and sharing our programs and events with the community through a variety of platforms.

“It’s like living inside a SIMS™ game! I’m seeing the Middle Border region grow right before my eyes. The best part is I get to be involved in its growth and share it with the community,” said Moose.

Next time you’re in the River District, stop by and welcome Moose back to the Middle Border!
