Neighbors,
The beginning of the school year is always an exciting time. I have enjoyed visiting a number of our Ward 5 schools, as well as welcoming teachers, staff, parents, and students as they return to school. I look forward to visiting every school within Ward 5 this year and following our student’s success. I extend my sincerest gratitude to our parents and educators for their commitment to the youth of Ward 5 and the District of Columbia.
I recognize the important role our educators will play in building the next generation of leaders in our city and beyond. Ensuring the continued support of our educators is crucial to the long-term success of our city. The students, faculty, and leadership staff of Ward 5 and the District of Columbia have my full support.
In Ward 5, we welcomed three new principals at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The new principals are leading Dunbar High School, Luke C. Moore High School, and Phelps ACE High School. I invite you to read more about them below and join me as we welcome them to our community. I encourage all residents to find ways to get involved at your neighborhood school by volunteering, participating in community events, or supporting fundraising efforts.
In Service,
Kenyan
