Neighbors,
Last Saturday, I was proud to take part in the groundbreaking of a new Edgewood Recreation Center, a project that I have been working with the community on since being sworn into office. The field house at 3rd and Everts that I went to while growing up, is outdated and inadequate for the needs of the community.
The new Edgewood Recreation Center will also include an indoor gymnasium, community rooms, classrooms, teen and tech lounges, a teaching kitchen, a fitness center, and an outdoor playground. In addition to a new community garden, the LEED-certified facility will also feature a rooftop urban farm. The sports field will be renovated with natural grass and a fitness trail around the field.
I am already looking forward to the ribbon cutting, expected in spring 2019, and another generation of kids, like myself, growing up going to Edgewood Rec.
In Service,
Kenyan
