Morinville Rescue Centre Now Open

We are thrilled to share that animal intake began this week at our new Rescue Centre in Morinville. However, we continue to see an alarming trend in requests to help animals. Dogs like Biggy and Max (shown below) have been brought into care, and many more. We currently have 321 animals in our care.

We know our Rescue Centre in Morinville will save lives, but we worry about the future for homeless pets in Alberta. SCARS needs more foster homes and adoptions. Animals need us more than ever as we begin the coldest months of the year where they are most vulnerable.

More exciting news is that we can offer opportunities for volunteers to help care for animals at the rescue centre. If you are interested, please join our next online volunteer orientation on October 22 to learn more.

There are so many ways to help animals. If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating or supporting our events, or buy a wreath or a kennel wrap. The kennel wraps have been a huge hit, but there is still space to add more adorable pet faces. You can also donate direct to facility operations.

Skate for SCARS Contest Wrap-up

Across the summer, SCARS had the privilege of teaming up with Dale Bailey of Shoulda' Danished Productions to showcase the Skate for SCARS competition. The event raised over $4,000 for SCARS thanks to Dale, the sponsors, and those who put so much effort into creating entries. The showcase event took place on September 28 with 141 people viewing the eight finalist videos at the Garneau Theatre. Click here to see who won and here to watch the eight awesome videos.
