Join us "in person" for Critters & Cocktails
Our biggest event of the year takes place November 5 and it's not too late to get your tickets.

Help us celebrate 20 years of SCARS' operations with our Critters & Cocktails gala at the Italian Cultural Centre (14230 - 133 Avenue, Edmonton). This year’s theme is “Grrrease.” We’re celebrating 50s style with our MC, Rob Christie.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with our buffet dinner beginning at 7 p.m. Our silent auction will be open throughout the evening with a live auction after dinner. Click here for tickets and more information.

Morinville Rescue Centre Update!
We are almost a month into operations at our new facility and accomplishing exactly what we hoped. We are able to help pets like Miss Fluevog (shown below) who needed urgent intake and gave birth to puppies shortly after coming into care. She is a sweet mom who feels safe and sound in our quarantine area with her nine babies. We currently have 318 animals in our care including those at our foster homes and our facilities in Morinville and Athabasca.

We continue to get daily pleas to help animals in need and it's heartbreaking. We need more adoptions, but we are are thrilled to be saving more lives with the opening of our facility in Morinville.

More of the pets recently helped through our Morinville facility are shown below. There are many ways to help animals like these. You can foster, volunteer, adopt, donate, support our events, or sponsor a kennel wrap at the Rescue Centre or an area of the Athabasca Second-Chance Country Refuge.

Featured Adoptable Pet
SCARS is always looking for more volunteer foster homes. Foster homes help pets by providing loving care until they can be adopted. Here is a message from one of our amazing dog foster homes: "This is our new foster, Michael. We are happy to give him a homey home until he can find his furever home. But seriously we can't believe he hasn't found one yet! He's such a good boy and learns so fast! Plus he's only large… not extra large “🤣." Click here to learn more about Michael.

Look at Me Now Story
My name is Bear. I have been in my furever home for eight months now. I am a year old as of October 8. I was really shy but my mom and dad took me to puppy social class and finally I came out of my shell. I now love people and other dogs. When my mama takes me for a walk in the neighbourhood, I always look forward to seeing and playing with my buddies. I have to give a shout out to my foster family… they helped me when I needed it until my mama and papa came and got me. My papa still sends them pictures! Thanks SCARS!
