Please donate to SCARS this Giving Tuesday, November 30
Pets give us unconditional love and ask so little in return. Tuesday, November 30 is Giving Tuesday. Please help us raise much needed funds so we can continue to help pets this winter when they need us the most. Every dollar helps. Click here to donate. November 29 is the last day to support SCARS for a chance to win $5,000 from Canada Helps.
The month isn't quite over and so far SCARS has logged the intake of 152 pets (54 dogs and 98 cats) and the adoption of 103 (35 dogs and 68 cats). We also transferred five pets to a partner organization. We are sad to note a slow down in adoptions this month. With winter weather arriving, requests for help are increasing. If you are thinking of adopting, now is a great time. When you adopt a pet, you save a life.
This month, we also provided spay-neuter-return for 10 pets and delivered insulated dog and cat shelters to one of our partner communities. Our Spay-Neuter-Return Program reduces animal suffering by preventing unwanted litters. Our Walls for Winter pet shelter program ensures animals have a safe and warm place to go during inclement weather. We always appreciate donations towards these important programs that focus on the root causes of animal suffering and overpopulation.
Featured Rescue Stories
Here are just a few of this month's urgent care stories. Leggo came to us with an untreated injury that caused him to become septic. Timber came to us suffering from parvo virus. Ernest was a stray cat whose sad face says it all. And, finally, there was Soul who needed care for a badly broken leg.
In case you missed it, here is the video we shared during our annual Critters & Cocktails event held the weekend of November 6 & 7. We went virtual again this year due to COVID-19, but we hope to hold an in-person event next year.

Hello SCARS, I adopted Stevie (her name was Zephyr at the time) in November 2019 when she was about 9 months old. She was my first ever dog and she has been just an absolutely incredible companion these past two years. Stevie is an incredibly sweet, happy, and adventurous dog. She’s learned to climb mountains, swim in fresh rivers and lakes, and even how to live with a cat! She gets along with every person or dog she’s come across, and has even been helped difficult dogs by acting as an “icebreaker” to help them be social. Her favourite thing in the entire world is to cuddle. Given the option between treats and cuddling, she would choose cuddles.
Thank you very much SCARS for introducing Stevie into my life. I could never have imagined a better addition to my family.
