Our Critters & Cocktails 2021 Online Silent Auction is now live. This is your chance to bid on over 200 great items while supporting SCARS. The event also includes ticket sales to two Snoot-Phony performances by members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. See below for more details.

We count on your support to fill bellies and provide veterinary care to pups like Marina (shown right). Together we relieve suffering and provide pets with the loving homes they deserve while helping communities reduce pet over population.

During October, SCARS helped 145 animals (85 dogs and 60 cats) and rehomed 178 (73 dogs and 105 cats). We also transferred 22 pets to partner organizations and continued our spay-neuter-return program. Winter is coming and the animals will need your help even more.

Featured Rescue Stories

This month we are featuring Maven, Miriam and Marina. This mom and her two pups (see below) came into care recently terribly malnourished and full of parasites. Then there was Coven (see bottom row), a puppy who was blind and in pain when he came into our care.

Upcoming Events

SCARS Critters & Cocktails 2021 is an online event again this year due to the pandemic. We made this decision to keep our supporters, volunteers and community safe. This was a very difficult decision because we rely on the support that a large event like Critters & Cocktails provides to continue our important animal welfare and rescue work.

Featured "Look at Me Now" Story

My fiancé and I adopted Lila (formerly Skylark) at the end of July this year and she is thriving in Calgary! Everyone who has met her says she’s incredibly well-behaved and sweet natured. She loves people and has made many friends at daycare. She enjoys passing the day snoozing on or under the bed and keeping us company as we go about our day. She is patient, attentive and always excited to welcome us home! Her off leash recall is incredible and she’s performed very well at mannerism classes. We’re learning more about her personality all the time and hope some day she can help bring others’ joy as a therapy pup.
