SCARS has never been busier! Our requests for animal intake are overwhelming and adoptions have slowed. Our wait list grows and there have been so many emergency intakes like Lou Lou, Coco, and Banks.
We currently have 285 animals in our care and our adoptions during June slowed to 88 (60 cats and 28 dogs). SCARS needs adoptions and volunteers (especially foster homes). Our next volunteer orientation is on July 9. We also need donations to cover our veterinary costs. Every dollar counts and donations of $3 or less receive a tax receipt through Canada Helps.
We understand not everyone can adopt right now or volunteer, but there are lots of ways to help. For example, you can:
support events such as Tails on the Trails on July 16 where supporters collect pledges and come together for a day of fun at Lions Park. Even if you can't do the walk, there will be lots to see and do. We are so excited to see our supporters in person!

Hello SCARS, Here is our adoption update! We adopted Lucy in November and we’re pretty sure she is around a year old now. So far this year, she has had weekly dog dates, long walks in the river valley, her first (of many) camping trips, plenty of back yard play time, and of course lots of snuggles. She is such a well behaved pup and we’re so lucky to have her!
