This month marks our last monthly meeting and what a meeting it will be! We will gather at 6:30 per usual on Monday, Nov. 18 and following a short business meeting we’ll get to the business of well-mannered frivolity. In case you haven’t read the invitation emailed last week to all members, there are several things you should bring:
• A dozen holiday cookies, for the staff at Garden Plaza, in a Ziploc bag
• Goodies to share based on your last name, A-L brings savory, M-Z brings sweet (nothing that needs to be kept plugged in, please)
• A Ziploc bag of several art supplies you don’t use
• A piece of artwork you’ve done for us to admire
• A friend (make sure there’s a bag of art supplies for them, too!)
Wear your holiday sweater for a chance at a prize!
See you all then!!!! Remember to bring Goodies to share based on your last name, A-L brings savory, M-Z brings sweet (nothing that needs to be kept plugged in, please)

I want to THANK YOU ALL for your generous support this past 6 weeks. The diagnosis was a real shock that I never expected and had a difficult time getting my mind around. Your words of support and many prayers I am sure made a huge difference.
I have not found the words to adequately tell you how much I appreciate all you have done for me. The emails, cards, gift cards and small orchid are overwhelming from all of you wonderful friends!
My surgery and followup have gone more smoothly than I could have expected and I am definitely on the recovery road.
Melinda and Nancy Hibbert were certain I could get food from the store and gave me help getting on-line for ordering. Nancy checked on me and drove us to the luncheon. It was such fun seeing you all.
If I can ever help you, please don't hesitate to let me know.
May God bless each of you, my Painting Friends,
Love, Elissa

.Mary Steingesser's "Jingle My Kringle" Santa ornament class was on October 5th. Thank you Mary for quickly stepping in to teach this wonderful ornament... he is darling and we all had a great time! BTW Mary is teaching at the World of Color Expo in Washington DC this year. You go girl!
RMHi is co-sponsoring with High Plains Decorative Artists August 15 and 16, 2020 a seminar with Mark Polomchak. Mark your calendar so you don't miss this opportunity. You can keep an eye on our website or our newsletter for further details as soon as they are available.
It is with great sadness I inform you Doxie Keller passed away November 1st.. So very sad... she was loved by so many and was such a asset to the painting industry for many years. She was SDP president twice! Facebook is on fire as I write this with the outpouring of love for her. Some of you will remember when we co-sponsored a seminar with the High Plains Chapter with Doxie and Chris Thornton-Deason team teaching in Littleton a few years ago. Doxie be missed by so many. Above is my favorite photo I took of Doxie.
A few days before Doxie's death we lost Cindy Forsythe, MDA. She was a beautiful artist and will also be missed by many.
Enough of the sad news...
The OKC Painting Palooza was another fantastic convention last month. So much fun and many wonderful classes. From our chapter Paula Leopold (taught and exhibited), Judy Murphy and I attended. I took dozens of photos and posted them on Facebook. Sorry if you don't use Facebook and can't view all the fun photos. If you can I urge you to attend this wonderful convention next year. They always have a theme and next year is "Fabulous 50's"... too bad I don't have my poodle skirt saddle oxfords any longer. <grin>
Ronnie Bringle has been painting with Golden Heavy Bodied Acrylics in recent years, but she has another love which is creating paper crafts. Everything from Sentimental Tags, Cards, Bookmarks and tonight I added a re-purposed journal in her shopping cart. It is 80 pages and absolutely beautiful. You can check it out on Ronnie's website and there are 7 photos. https://ronniebringle.com/products.php?cat=3
The High Plains Chapter is bringing in Shara Reiner, CDA for a seminar June 13 and 14, 2020. Watch their website for details. As I mentioned in my other article RMHi and High Plains Chaper is co-sponsoring a second seminar with Mark Polomchak in August 2020. Mark is a very popular watercolor artist and this seminar will fill quickly. I will let you know the details as soon as they are available. https://rockymountainhiartists.com/seminars.htm
Patty Rawlinson has linked a few stenciling project videos from StudioR12.com. This one below is for Christmas and so easy, fast and fun. Many tips on stenciling and, dry brushing and spattering. I thought the best tip was to use a dome stencil brush to not go under the edges of your stencil. Patty sells the stencils you would need for several projects.
