CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Steingesser for her Best in Show recently. She did an amazing Monopoly board painting that looks like the real thing! I envy that kind of talent.
There was a recent Poinsettia Project with Ginny. I thank her for her talent and creativity. I got stuck at work that day so had to pass on it. I look forward to seeing your projects, though. How lucky are we to have Ginny in our chapter!!!
Our co-VPs are hard at work not only on the monthly projects for 2021, but also an idea for December. Please watch your email for a special Evite from me that will culminate in a Zoom chapter meeting December 14. It will be a fun evening.
If you have bags that you brought home to decorate for the residents at Garden Plaza, you need to get those to CatherineRoche ASAP. They will be given to the residents as a Christmas gift along with a note of greetings. Thank you to Catherine for taking care of this!
I don’t have much to report this month, but read ahead for some exciting opportunities from your fellow chapter members.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Co-Vice President/Program Report - Mary Steingesser
Thank you to Ginny for a great Zoom class this past Saturday, November 7th in which she taught a painted poinsettia on a stocking. The design was beautiful and she made the stockings herself. She still has some available for $10 each.
Our next Zoom class will be a short (15 minutes or so) demo on using Pan Pastels. SDP has been offering some fun Paint-in projects and this is a component of their next one. The demo will be lead by Mary on Monday, Dec. 7th at 10am. We’ll send a Zoom link when the date gets closer. There is no charge for this demo.
The next chapter meeting will be on Monday, December 14th at 7pm via Zoom during which we’ll have games and prizes in addition to holiday cheer! Before this, we’ll have an optional Secret Santa exchange. Lisa will send an Evite soon. Let us know by Sunday, November 22 if you want to participate. The next day, you’ll get an email (or phone call if you prefer) letting you know who you have. Buy/make that person a gift around $10-$15 and mail/bring it to them so that they have it before the Dec. 14th Zoom party.
We’re trying some different things come January. For our chapter meeting classes, we’re going to charge $5 per student with the money going to the teacher. Deb will teach a Zoom class after a brief chapter meeting on Monday, January 18th at 5:30pm.Andrene will teach a Zoom class after a brief chapter meeting on Monday, February 15th at 5:30pm. On Saturday, February 20th at 10am, Mary will teach a Zoom batik class of Irises. There will be a fee (TBD) for that class plus $5 per student that will go to the chapter. Mary will teach the SDP Paint-in project (or a component of it) on Monday, March 8th at 5:30pm after the chapter meeting. Though we don’t have the rest of the year lined up, please note that SDP will be offering the following Paint-ins next year:
March 8-14 - Tracy Moreau's "A Calm Sea" (Mixed Media)
June 7-13 - Lydia Steeves Chickadee on a Branch (Colored Pencil)
September 6-12 - Peggy Harris "Boo Bunnies" (Acrylic)
December 6-12 - Shara Reiners "Snow Days" (Acrylic)

Wonderful news... several seminars are being scheduled by Carolyn, Janet and Cec via Zoom for 2021. I asked if RMHi could join the Littleton and Pikes Peak chapters for the seminars and they have graciously said yes! I shared more info in the Tole Chatter article. What a wonderful opportunity we have!
Registration is open for the Beth Wagner class on February 6, 2021. The class is filling up. You can see a photo on our Seminar page.Contact Carolyn cvculwell@bresnan.net for details and who to send your check to. Class is $30 which includes the Zoom class and pattern. Students will supply paint and surface.
RMHi is co-sponsoring with High Plains Decorative Artists a seminar with Mark Polomchak. This seminar is tentatively rescheduled for August 2021. It is not impossible to have Mark teach his technique on Zoom. At this time because of the Covidvirus the class may or may not be available for us.

Art Park A 2 Z... This new website is for Susan Phillips, our SDP president. We launched the site a couple of weeks ago. The site at this time is featuring Prudy Vannier, CDA e-packets. If you are a fan of Prudy's check it out. More of Prudy's e-packets will be added as we go along and soon will be adding other artists too. https://artparka2z.com/
Mary Steingesser... Mary won Best in Show for the Parker Artist Guild art show which will be at the Schoolhouse in Parker until Dec. 12, 2020. Congratulation Mary! If you want to see Mary's amazing work check out home page on our website. https://rockymountainhiartists.com/
SDP Decorative Painters Academy... A brand new website for SDP offering well known artists for education. Many Zoom classes are being offered by your favorite artists. https://decorativepaintersacademy.com/
Marney Ward SFCA, SCA, Artist... I found this amazing watercolor artist's website the other day. Her work is incredible to say the least. Marney's work is displayed in art shows and galleries. Marney does offer online classes if you are interested she is starting registration now for her January 2021 classes. https://www.marneyward.com/
Miyuki Nakano who lives in Japan has a sweet website she built herself. Miyuki teaches in the US at conventions and was scheduled to teach my cat, Maxi, in OKC. Miyuki used a photo I had posted on Facebook to surprise me. OKC has been postponed until May 2021 and will keep my fingers crossed it is safe and isn't cancelled. Miyuki is designing mostly in colored pencils the past couple of years. https://www.miyukin.com/
Marika Moretti is an artist living in Bologna, Italy. She has a few free patterns she is offering as well as other designs. https://www.marikamorettidesigns.com/en/
I know I have mentioned Tracy Moreau before, but I can't say enough about her. She offers so many free Zoom classes, painting videos on her website and YouTube.com. When you can take some time really take a good look at her website. On Facebook Tracy has a page for Random Acts of Kindness. She encourages everyone to share our art with as many people as you can. Many free patterns are available to paint for this purpose. https://tracymoreau.net/
Deb Antonick is working on a new website. If you like primitive designs you may be interested. Deb had a strong connection with Terrye French before she passed away a few years ago and paints many of Terrye's line drawings. In more recent years Deb had been designing multi-media projects. Update: Deb announced on Facebook she is having a Grand Opening sale with her patterns 25% off. The sale code is on her site. https://paintingwithdeb.ca/
Sandy is part of "We Three Friends" along with Tracy Moreau and Deb Anotinick. They have a booth at most of the shows and here is the link for info on Sandy's site. https://www.sandymctierdesigns.com/we-three-friends
DecoArt was thrilled to participate on the show "Make It Artsy". There are painting videos and probably more. Here is a link for a free pattern and technique video by, you guessed it, Sandy McTeir. Perfect for this time of the year... a large pumpkin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl3SeeUczjg&feature=youtu.be
If you would like to check out "Make it Artsy" here is the link to their website where you will find many video projects to watch. https://www.makeitartsy.com/
As you may have heard by now RMHi has been invited to participate in the upcoming HPDA and PPDP seminars next year. Here are the dates and I have included their websites for you to see examples of their work. As projects are picked I will be adding the photos on our website and theirs. Registration is open for the Beth Wagner seminar. Look at our seminar page for the project photo and contact info for Carolyn (HPDA co-seminar chair).
