Welcome to the new Union of the Baltic Cities newsletter


Dear UBC Colleagues,

At hand you have the new UBC newsletter which will be sent approximately four times a year, keeping you up to date with UBC news, interesting developments in the Baltic Sea Region and other current UBC matters.

In this newsletter, we welcome a new member city, Tauragė, look into the newly launched UBC cooperation with CDP, send out a call for stories for the special issue on sustainability of the Baltic Cities Bulletin as well as inform about UBC's Executive Board meeting in Kristiansand and the upcoming UBC General Conference in Växjö.

UBC's Executive Board met in Kristiansand

On 15–17 February, the UBC’s Executive Board met in Kristiansand, Norway. Among matters discussed were UBC’s XIV General Conference in Växjö 24–27 October 2017, UBC strategy implementation, and cooperation within the EUSBSR on youth issues.

UBC Commissions' meetings in spring 2017

During the spring, UBC Commissions are hosting several meetings, seminars and workshops, dealing with current issues affecting cities across the Baltic Sea Region.

Tauragė – new member of the UBC

The UBC warmly welcomes a new member city, Tauragė! With 42 000 residents, Tauragė is located in the Southwest of Lithuania, in Tauragė County. Tauragė is looking for especially sustainably oriented contacts and partnerships.

UBC launches cooperation
with CDP
 
CDP, the global climate change disclosure non-profit, and the UBC have agreed on a two-year MoU to involve more cities in the development and reporting of target-oriented climate actions.

Sustainability issue of
the Baltic Cities Bulletin

 
Baltic Cities Bulletin’s issue 1/2017 will discuss sustainability questions in the UBC cities. It will also be the first Bulletin published online only – a quick and sustainable way of connecting with our member cities and partners.
