Update 3 for Get Off My Lawn!
Hello!
Thank you for subscribing for updates for A Whim Away's upcoming new book, Get Off My Lawn! In these newsletters, I hope to give you an insight on the production process, taking you through the steps from a completed manuscript to a published book.
First, some concerning news. I almost got scammed a couple of weeks ago. As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I was looking for a cover designer, and I thought I found the right one after having chat conversations with them about my mock-up.
After checking their identity from the PayPal link they sent, when I was ready to pay the deposit, they sent another PayPal link with an anonymous address! Things didn't add up and I reported the account to Facebook, the Facebook group, and blocked the account. Lesson: you can never be too vigilant in verifying an identity, especially online.
For now, I have engaged a cover illustrator and designer on Upwork. Marta, from Ukraine, quickly drew a few options for me, and after I chose one, she is now putting in the detail. I'm excited!
Apart from that, I had been forging ahead with the developmental edits. I discovered 'character sheets' in the fiction section of Scrivener. I modified them a little to tackle the character arcs of a major character, as well as a minor character who is a catalyst for change. I hope Katie and Adam like the mods!
I've also been investigating Draft2Digital as an alternative to Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). The reach is wider with Draft2Digital, and it is free to publish, same as KDP. But more on that later!
Please feel free to share this email with your friends. I have included the subscription link for them here. The next update will come in 7-14 days, now that the pace of developments is accelerating.
'Til next time!
Anna Ceguerra.
