Conservation Corps Crew

Do you dream of becoming a leader? Rise up to the occasion by leading a fully Deaf Crew of high school youth in Pennsylvania or a Deaf Crew of young adults in Vermont.

CorpsTHAT is running our young adult conservation corps crew for our third season. We are looking to hire Deaf and Hard of Hearing crew leaders who are at least 25 years old to work together as a team to lead, guide and work with 6 Deaf and Hard of Hearing young adults completing conservation projects along the east coast. During the program transportation, housing and meals will be provided.

This job will last from June 14th to August 6th, 2023 and will pay $700-800 a week.

Do you want to spend your 2023 summer outdoors? What better way than working in a conservation corps crew? EVEN BETTER: A FULLY DEAF CREW???

CorpsTHAT is running our young adult conservation corps crew for our third season. We are looking to hire young adult Deaf and Hard of Hearing crew members to work together as a team to complete conservation projects and participate in environmental educational and job training activities along the East Coast. During the program transportation, housing and meals will be provided.

Deaf adults who are 18+ years of age are welcomed to apply for our crew. 

The job will run from June 29th to August 6th, 2023 and will pay $600 a week.

Sam Bragg from CorpsTHAT and Wanda Krieger from Trail Blazing Interpreters are partnering up to provide an online workshop about interpreting in the conservation field.

We will be discussing the following topics:

  • What to expect and consider when interpreting in the field
  • How to prepare
  • What to pack and what to wear
  • Different types of assignments and consumers an interpreter might work within the conservation field
  • History of Deaf conservation corps
  • Examples of work projects along with techniques, tool names and signs, and the various partners that are involved in the field

This is the workshop for you if you are interested in enhancing your knowledge and skillset within the conservation field. After completing this 2-hour workshop, you will receive 0.2 CEU from MERID.

Are you looking to do something different, something memorable, or a life changing experience this summer? Have you always been intrigued by the conservation corps? Do you want an excuse to be in the mountains all summer? If you’ve answered yes to all the above or just want to learn more about the conservation corps experience, RSVP to our third virtual panel of conservation corps alumni. These alumni will share their experiences working in the conservation corps. You will get the chance to ask questions and receive guidance on how to apply to work with the conservation corps and what career path options there are for after the corps experience.
