Greetings

Tomorrow is an important day for all of us. The Oregon legislature is set to hear a proposal to invest $1 billion towards a replacement for the I-5 Bridge, a project that is estimated to exceed $7 billion in total. Notably, funding for transit, safe streets, crosswalks, passenger light rail, and maintenance operations is still lacking. In light of these circumstances, SE Uplift urges you to take action and advocate for the welfare and security of the community and endorse responsible investments for the benefit of future generations. We invite you to read on how to support a secure, accessible, functional, equitble, and resilient interstate bridge for Portland.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND SE PORTLAND

Right Size, Right Bridge Coalition Day of Action

Thursday April 13th | Salem, Oregon
Right Size. Right Now.
  • For Fiscal Responsibility with our Tax Dollars
  • For Oregon’s Green New Deal based on Good Union Jobs
  • For Safe Streets & Safe Routes to School
  • For Roadway Maintenance Improvements not Freeway Expansion
  • For Climate Action & Transit to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Let's support a safe, green, equitable, and fiscally responsible transportation future with the Right Size. Right Now. Day of Action. The Oregon legislature is currently considering a proposal to spend $1 billion on replacing the Interstate Bridge and expanding nearby freeway interchanges. The current design could cost up to $7.5 billion, draining our state's transportation funds for decades and preventing us from investing in crucial infrastructure like safe routes to school, crosswalks, passenger rail, and transit services. The proposed bridge is a massive five-mile freeway expansion that is far more expensive and extensive than necessary. We need an earthquake-proof bridge that reduces traffic congestion, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Let's urge our legislators to invest in a right-sized bridge replacement that meets our needs and preserves our state's financial future and responsibly navigate our children's climate future. Join us for the Right Size. Right Now. Day of Action!
