Ambassador Abdali Meets Ambassador of Nepal

Nepal’s ambassador to India, H.E. Deep Kumar Upadhyay called on Ambassador Abdali at the latter’s office on 14 June 2017.

The meeting aimed to discuss the issue of Nepali prisoners in Afghanistan and exchange views on strengthening ties between the two countries.

The Nepal Government has recently introduced Ambassador Upadhyay as non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan. In this context, Mr. Upadhyay asked his Afghan counterpart for processing of his Agrément by the Afghan Government. Also, he solicited the Afghan government’s cooperation in granting exit permit for Nepali citizens who have been poisoned in Afghanistan for overstaying.

In response, Ambassador Abdali welcomed the decision of the Nepal government to designate its mission in Delhi as a non-resident mission to Afghanistan. He informed Ambassador Upadhyay that his Agrément is in process and he assured the Nepal envoy that his request regarding the Nepali prisoners would be shared with the Afghan government. FULL STORY 

DCM Balkhi Meets the Head Of Ismailia Union

Deputy Chief of Mission, Dr. Mirwais Balkhi met with Zulekha Karnik, Head of Ismailia Union of India on 20th June 2017 to discuss this union’s further support to Afghan children living in India. The meeting was aimed to discuss this union’s assistance to Afghan kids in India over the last year and also point out the obstacles as well as challenges ahead which stop the union reaching more Afghan kids in India. 
The First India-Afghanistan Air Freight Corridor Cargo's Arrival to IGI Airport, New Delhi
The first India-Afghanistan air freight corridor inaugurated by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on June 19, 2017 in Kabul and was received at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) by Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister, Shri Ganapati Raju & Minister of State for External Affairs Shri M.J. Akbar and Afghan Ambassador to India Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali.

Eid Celebration

Embassy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in New Delhi celebrated Eid al-Fitr in Embassy’s premises on 25th June 2017. During these celebrations, Ambassador Abdali met with a number of Afghans residing in India and spoke about the current economic and political developments in the country. At the end, all participants prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.


Ambassador Abdali in an interview with The WIRE about the First India-Afghanistan Air Freight Corridor

Last week, India and Afghanistan established the first direct air freight corridor, with a flight from New Delhi to Kabul carrying 100 tonnes of cargo, mainly pharmaceuticals, water purifiers and medical equipment, marking its inauguration. There have been two flights since then carrying products between the two countries. The creation of the Afghanistan-India air freight corridor is clearly targeting an increase in the annual volume of trade between the two countries, which presently stands at around $700 million.
