Volunteer wanted
The Foundation for Active Nonviolence, in cooperation with the Dutch Museum for Peace and Nonviolence, is looking for a volunteer that wants to help with setting-up an activity group, a travelling exhibition about peace and nonviolence, spreading the Peaceful Earth Game, the Handbook for Nonviolent Power and the Study Guide Engaging Nonviolence.
Peace Power is the "youth & training department" of the Foundation for Active Nonviolence.

Online course Engaging Nonviolence

The Social School for Cultural Change is hosting an eight week online course that will familiarize participants with the overall contents of the Engaging Nonviolence Study Program which provides the basics of principled and strategic nonviolence and will foster personal growth, healthy relationships and work for world peace.

Engaging Nonviolence aims to engage you in active nonviolence through various exercises and group discussions. In this course there will be no lectures or long texts, but there are many models and ideas for participants to reflect on, explore, experiment with and practice. The course exists of eight zoom sessions, Thursdays 7PM Central European Time, 1PM Eastern (USA), 10AM Pacific (USA), starting on the 8th of July.

WOMAN - Working on Mastering Adult Nonviolence
This two year project started in 2020 and (after the kick-off meeting and a training in Spain) has been paused for several months due to Covid 19, but will resume in October this year, with the first Study Visit of three days to the UK (Preston) (October 11-15). I'm looking for two people from The Netherlands who want to join this activity. Please get in touch by email.
Changing the game Developing a culture of peace in organisations
From the 12-15th of May we gathered with nine people in Greece to dive into the Culture of Peace (CoP) for four days. We first learned about direct, structural or ‘institutional’ and cultural violence and creatively explored the 8 sectors of a CoP. We renamed them to be more applicable to organisations: core values, conflict navigation, teamwork & cooperation, impact and awareness of interconnection, human rights, equality & representation, decision making and communication and sharing information.
We had workshops about power, social change & activism, conflict and communication. And of course we discussing the educational game we want to develop, made a list with the do’s and don’ts, needs of organisations and possible objectives. We even had a chance to visit the castle on top of the hill 2km from the hotel with a splendid view as a unique location for one of the workshops, where we took our group picture. It were a very full four days and we all returned to our homes with new insights and ideas!
The next meeting, focusing on game desing, will be in Latvia from the 10th to 13th of August (4 days+2 travel days). Because I am unable to attend myself (unfortunately) there is space for one person from the Netherlands to join this meeting. Expected is that you will stay involved also after this meeting, since the project ends only in 2022 and we will have to test the game. If you're interested, get in touch by email.
