Sip and Nibble with Tommy York

Spend an afternoon sipping biodynamic, sustainable natural wines and nibbling on natural cheeses with TOMMY YORK, the founding partner of YORK Food + Drink. The artisans who make these wines usual grow their own fruit and the people who make the cheeses typically use the milk from their own herds.

Participants may purchase the wine sampler and or cheese sampler directly from YORK by ordering online (look for the special OLLI order tab) or by calling in and specifying the OLLI order sampler.  Items will become available the week of March 22. Participants may prepay through the web site or over the phone and may either come in the store to pick up or call upon arrival and employees will bring the order out to the car. Please utilize the Packard entrance. Payment can also be accepted at time of pick up. Samplers are limited to 100 participants.

The special pricing for the combined sampler of a red wine, a white wine, two cheeses and a box of water crackers is $60. The products can also be purchased a la carte.

Under Tommy York’s vision and guidance, YORK Food + Drink has evolved from a party store to a retail shop specializing in artisanal food and drink to a unique destination with a full bar, providing an experience inspired by European markets, bars, and cafés. Tommy was involved in the purchase of the former Big Ten Party Store in 2001 and has been fine tuning the business ever since. Most recently, since the pandemic, Tommy has invested his energy into the YORK Yard and the YORK Campus, in an effort to create a safe space for customers to enjoy quality food and drink offerings as well as live music. Through this programming, Tommy hopes to support and build a community of local businesses that enhance his guests’ experiences at YORK.

Tommy is a longtime resident of Ann Arbor and is highly involved in the community, donating his time and resources to countless local nonprofit organizations – from coaching youth archery to hosting events to benefit local food pantries and fostering relationships new small businesses.
