What's On The Horizon
In recent years, November has signalled the start of travel to a warmer locale for the winter. My husband and I have no such plans this winter. I am not yet sure how that will feel as the month progresses, but I suspect longing and restlessness may arise at some point. However, I am discovering the benefits of being rooted in Winnipeg for a few months: re-establishment of patterns with friends and renewed participation in the community.
Although a snowbird winter is not currently planned, I will be thinking about the snowbird life while reorganizing the Snowbird section of the website.
Also look for a new Facebook page for Destinations Detours and Dreams to be launched early in November.

"Hudson the Ham" polar bear has been the star of Winnipeg's Assiniboine Zoo since he arrived from Toronto Zoo in 2013. This month Hudson and his brother Humphrey were returned to Toronto, leaving seven polar bears at Assiniboine Zoo, all orphans rescued from the North. I first wrote about the Journey to Churchill exhibit at the zoo, which provides a look at northern landscape and wildlife, in 2014 and updated the post this summer and fall with new polar bear photos and current polar bear status.
