Community Update: June 8, 2022 | View this email in your browser here.

Dear <<First Name>>;

The sun is out and summer is almost here!

On June 2, 2022, I celebrated my 25th year as a sitting MP in the House of Commons. Serving the community of Scarborough - Guildwood has been a great honour. I would like to thank all of you for your continued support over the years.

My Bill S-211 passed the second reading in the House of Commons 327-0. Strong, positive momentum is being made to advance anti-slavery legislation in Canada.

Last week, I visited Lithuania as a Canadian delegate. I reaffirmed Canada's commitment to protecting the sovereignty of its NATO allies in Eastern Europe. We must continue to keep pushing back against Russia and all forces seeking to dismantle an international rules-based order.

I hope you and your family plan to enjoy this coming summer season. Check out the Bluffs, visit the waterfront, and have a BBQ with your friends.

Delegation to the United States

This week, I lead a delegation of Canadian MPs and Senators to Washington D.C. We had discussions with our American counterparts in the U.S Senate on North American security, energy security, and climate change solutions.

Among a number of others, we met with Senators Amy Klobuchar (D), the Co-Chair of the Canada-US Interparliamentary Group, and Senator Chuck Grassley (R).

As Co-Chair of the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group I help facilitate meetings with our neighbours on issues that are important to Canadians. Our defence and economy are strongly intertwined with that of the United States so it is imperative that we continue to work together on these issues when possible.
